A good day on the astro with plenty of energy and positive hockey.

The boys moved the ball well, tried a few new structures, and built strong connections across the pitch.

Some good results and others that provided valuable learning , all part of the process.

The Bishops 1st XI enjoyed a productive training camp in the beautiful surroundings of Franschhoek.

The camp provided a great opportunity for the squad to bond as a team, work on new tactical approaches, and gain valuable game time on the astro ahead of the season.

Day 1 was challenging, but the boys keep learning. Looking forward to the weekend

The Co-Ed Festival will bring some tough opposition, but it’s a great opportunity for the boys to test themselves, grow, and enjoy the challenge.

We’re also pleased that our 2nds, 16B and 14B sides will get valuable game time close to home.

Bishops 1st XI vs THK Hamburg

The Bishops 1st XI officially got their 2026 season underway on Tuesday evening as they welcomed touring side THK Hamburg to the Astro. It was an early-season encounter played on a classic summer’s day that cooled into a pleasant evening ideal conditions for the first official game of the year.

Before the game got underway, there was a brief and special tribute to Coach Cassa, who sadly passed away in December, with players and staff taking a moment to remember his contribution to the school.

As expected in the opening fixture of the season, Bishops took some time to find their rhythm on the Astro. Once they settled, we began to raise the intensity and gradually took control of the match.

With good structure and sharp attacking play, the home side started to create and convert opportunities.

As the margin stretched, the visitors became increasingly aggressive in their efforts to disrupt the flow of the game. Bishops, however, kept their composure, sticking to their systems and continuing to move the ball well.

The scoreline reflected that control, with Bishops running out 8–0 winners.

It was an encouraging performance and a positive start to what promises to be a long but happy hockey season ahead.

A challenging way to begin on the astro, taking on a touring German club, but it’s a real privilege to host them.

Our boys shone at the Intercity PSI Hockey Tournament:
U16s brought home the gold, featuring four Bishops players: Cuan Cadiz, John Hewat, Waseem Dalwai and James Arkcoll
U18s finished 2nd, with Callum Anderson crowned Player of the Tournament!
