Happy Granny Square Day!

Did you know that the first printed granny square pattern was published in Prairie Farmer magazine on April 4, 1885?

The designer, a Mrs. Phelps, explained that her design inspiration was a crazy quilt square, with brightly colored sections and a black border, which she called The Crazy Afghan Pattern.
