Knowing your family medical history is very important

Autoimmune disease can run in families — but family members may develop completely different autoimmune conditions.

For example, one family might look like this:
-You have lupus
-Your grandma has rheumatoid arthritis
-Your mom has Hashimoto’s disease
-Your sister has celiac disease
-Your aunt has type 1 diabetes
-Your cousin has Crohn’s disease
-Your son has psoriasis

The diagnoses may be different, but the shared thread is a tendency toward autoimmunity.

That’s why knowing your extended family health history can matter and not just whether someone had your exact disease.

Your child holds it together all day.
