UCT TV is part of the Centre for Film and Media Studies at University of Cape Town. The Studio is built to BBC Specialisations.

It’s a BBC specification studio used for student and university productions. In addition we also provide full student crews to film training/educational videos, promotional documentaries, talks, seminars, conferences and events. These crews include directors, producers, camera operators, sound recordists and editors. UCT TV also offers gear for UCT student productions and post-production facilities. Duplication and digitization services also available

SWIFT SA Meetup and Special Screening of Bones

Join us on Wednesday, 1April for a special screening of “Bones” by UCT MA Filmmaker, Nomandla Vilikazi , at the amazing studios as part of the Sister Cinema SWIFT April Meetup.

“Bones” is a moving student documentary, that through the voice of the late poet, Dianna Ferrus, reflects on the return of Sarah Baartman to South Africa. The documentary explores history, identity, and the role of women in reclaiming and restoring their narratives.

The special screening will be followed by a Q&A discussion. It is open to all and those curious about joining the Sisterhood Cinema.

Be sure to bring a snack to share and come and be part of an evening of film, conversation and community!

DO YOU WANT TO LEARN ABOUT ALTERNATIVE DISTRIBUTION FOR SOCIAL CHANGE?

Then you should apply for the free 3-Day UCT Impact Producer Lab hosted by the Centre for Film and Media Studies at the University of Cape Town. You will be guided through Impact producing theory and practice, with access to case studies from the field.

This is an opportunity to learn more about impact producing, and also network with other like-minded producers. This course is offered free of charge. Unfortunately, we cannot provide accommodation or transport support, but lunch will be provided.

Selections are competitive and only a limited number of applicants can be accepted, so hurry and get your application in!

Dates: 9, 10 and 11 February 2026 (9AM to 4PM in person in Cape Town everyday).

Application Deadline: 16 January 2026, 5PM.

Successful candidates will be notified by 23 January 2026.

🚨Are you considering television production as a career?🚨

🌟Don’t know what the first step into the industry is?

🌟A filmmaker who wants to expand their skills in a studio setting?

🎬Then you should apply for the 3-WEEK Stepping Stone Multi-Cam course hosted by the Centre for Film and Media Studies at the University of Cape Town in collaboration with Cape Town TV . You will be guided through how to put a multi-camera studio talk show together, designing sets, working in different roles and how to work in a team.

This is a wonderful way to start your television production journey. Only a limited number of applicants can be accepted, so hurry and get your application in!

🗓️Dates: 24 November 2025 to 12 December 2025 (Monday – Friday; 9AM to 5PM everyday with a possibility of working on a weekend)

Before applying, make sure that you are available from 9h00 – 17h00 for ALL DAYS of the course. This is not an online course, in-person participation in Cape Town is a requirement!
