Barracudas Make Waves at Swartland Prestige Gala
The Barracuda Aquarama swim team delivered a stellar performance at the Swartland Prestige Gala in Malmesbury on November 22 and 23, securing an impressive 2nd place overall. The team celebrated 127 personal bests, along with 5 gold, 4 silver, and 6 bronze medals, showcasing depth, determination, and outstanding teamwork.
Swimmers of all ages rose to the challenge, shining across eventsโfrom electrifying sprint races to tactically executed long-distance swims.
The team trains at the Durbanville Preparatory School swim facilities, where dedicated coaches and support staff have cultivated a strong culture of excellence, resilience, and camaraderie. The entire Barracuda Aquarama familyโswimmers, coaches, and parentsโare immensely proud of every athlete who took part. Barracudas Swimmers Set to Compete at Biathle World Championships in Mossel Bay
From 7โ9 December 2025, the scenic Santos Beach in Mossel Bay will host the prestigious Biathle World Championships, and four talented athletes from the Barracudas Swimming Club are ready to make their mark on the global stage.
Representing the club are Cobus Wentzel, Stian Gericke, Ruvan Jooste, and Kari Gericke, guided by their dedicated coach Coenie van Graan and team. This dynamic team will take on the challenge of Biathle, a demanding multisport event that combines running and swimming, requiring both endurance and speed.
The Barracudas swimmers have trained tirelessly for this moment, and their commitment and passion are sure to shine as they compete against top athletes from around the world. Coach Coenie shared his excitement ahead of the event:
โThis is an incredible opportunity for our athletes to showcase their hard work and resilience and an honour for South Africa to host the event this year. Weโre proud to see the young swimmers competing against the worldโs best.โ
