A beautiful summer morning at Hout Bay !

Saturday morning greeted us with clear blue skies, no wind, and the sun up early. The ground was dry, with no mud in sight, and there was already a bit of heat to contend with on the course. Summer is definitely on its way! 🌞

We welcomed 57 parkrunners to event number 359, with Bradley Taylor leading the way across the finish line in an excellent time of 22:39. Well done, Bradley! πŸ‘

πŸ“Έ 80 photographs captured!

A huge thank you to Chiara and Matt for taking the photographs and capturing the morning’s memories.

And, of course, a massive thank you to our wonderful volunteers. This week saw a fantastic family contribution from the Lousse family, and we really appreciate everyone giving up their Saturday morning to make parkrun happen.

πŸ‘ Our volunteer heroes this week:

* πŸƒ Run Director: Geoffrey
* ⏱️ Timekeeper: Beverley
* πŸ“± Barcode Scanner: Kelly
* πŸ“Έ Photographer: Chiara
* 🚦 T-junction marshal: Alan β€” always there to keep everyone on the right track. Thanks so much, Alan!
* πŸ—‘οΈ Dump marshal: Matt
* 🏷️ Finish tokens: Annamaria
* 3km Shelley
* 🚢 Tail Walker: Juliβ€” thank you for making sure nobody was left behind!

Without our volunteers, parkrun simply wouldn’t be possible. Every role matters, and every helping hand makes a difference. Thank you all for your time, energy, and continued support. ❀️

It was a lovely morning, great company, and another successful Hout Bay parkrun in the books.

Same time, same place next Saturday! Bring your friends, bring your family, and come enjoy the parkrun spirit with us. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

🌬️ Cold Wind, Warm Hearts! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Peter Copeland stormed home in 18:52! πŸ₯³

A chilly southerly wind didn’t stop 72 hardy parkrunners from getting out there this morning. It may have been cold, but there was plenty of energy, smiles and determination on the course!

And now for the REALLY important part…

πŸ™Œ A MASSIVE THANK YOU TO OUR VOLUNTEERS! πŸ™Œ

Friday afternoon we were getting seriously nervous. With not enough volunteers stepping forward, we were very close to having to cancel parkrun.

But then, in true parkrun fashion, the cavalry arrived! πŸš¨πŸ˜‚

In the twelfth hour, volunteers put their hands up to fill the crucial positions β€” timers, scanners and all the other jobs that make the magic happen.

You guys absolutely saved the day! ❀️

Without volunteers, there is no parkrun. So a massive thank you to EVERYONE who gave up their Saturday morning to help out. You are the reason 72 people could get out there, run, walk, chat, laugh and enjoy their Saturday morning.

πŸ“Έ And then came the photography drama…

A big thank you to Matt Mercer for coming along to capture the morning.

Unfortunately, our photographer’s SD card decided it had had enough of life and packed up β€” taking all the photographs with it! πŸ˜±πŸ˜‚

So, sadly, today’s photographic memories have disappeared into the digital wilderness.

But hey… we were there, we enjoyed it, and we’ve got the memories! πŸ˜‰

Same time next week? You bet! πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’¨

On Saturday 26 September 39 participants finished Hout Bay's 357th parkrun.
In spite of the forecast of possible rain, not a drop fell and there was no wind, so truly pleasant weather conditions.
First to finish was Ricardo Vasopolli - his time 22:54.
Gareth Stillwell and Janet Fitschen achieved their PB.
Well done, everybody who participated to make this parkrun a success.

Hout Bay parkrun #355 – Saturday, 12 September 2026 πŸŒΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Second week of Spring turned up with cloudy skies and a proper black southeaster! 🌬️ The wind gave everyone a helpful push in one direction, then made sure the return leg was a real workout.

A fantastic 40 athletes took on the course, with Tinashe Madziko powering across the finish line first in an impressive 21:13! πŸ†πŸ‘

It was also great to see Shelley back on the course. We hope you make a speedy recovery from your recent illnessβ€”see you next week! πŸ’ͺ😊

A massive thank you to all our volunteers for giving up their Saturday morning and making parkrun happen. Without you, we wouldn’t have this parkrun! ❀️

Well done to everyone who ran, walked, jogged, volunteered, or cheered from the sidelines. See you all next Saturday for more fun, fresh air, and finish-line smiles! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Our first Spring parkrun was held on a windy day ! 🌬️🌸

The route was clear and in good condition, but the strong headwind made parts of the run quite taxing and challenging. πŸ’¨

πŸ₯‡ First across the finish line was Bradley Taylor, with a time of 22:05. Well done, Bradley! πŸ‘πŸ‘

We had a total of 38 participants joining us.

A huge thank you to all our wonderful volunteers who made the event possible. πŸ™Œβ€οΈ

Have a fantastic week, and we’ll see you all again next Saturday! πŸŒΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

What a morning! β›ˆοΈ A spectacular thunder and lightning storm passed through a few hours before parkrun. Fortunately, not too much rain came down, and we were able to enjoy another great run.

We had 40 participants taking on the course.

πŸ₯‡ Simon Novell was first to cross the finish line in a time of 22:20.

πŸ‘ Well done, Simon, and well done to everyone who came out and ran, walked and supported Hout Bay parkrun this morning!

A big thank you, as always, to our fantastic volunteers and well done Run Director Geoffrey πŸ™Œ

What a morning at Hout Bay parkrun #351! πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

A cloudy, chilly morning greeted our 33 athletes, but thankfully the route wasn’t too wet! The 3 km section was a little soggy thanks to a drainpipe doing its best to add a water feature to the course! πŸ˜‚πŸ’¦

An unregistered runner took the win in an impressive 21:46. πŸ₯‡

A massive thank you to our 8 fantastic volunteers β€” we couldn’t do it without you! πŸ™Œ

Well done to everyone who ran, walked, jogged and enjoyed the morning. See you all next Saturday for #352! πŸŽ‰πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ
