Hout Bay parkrun #340 π

Congratulations to π₯ Gavin Brandie, who was first home today in an excellent time of 19:48!
We welcomed 62 participants on what was a cool, calm, cloud-free morning. βοΈ It was also a busy and exciting event, with π Brooks joining us and around 8 to 12 runners taking the opportunity to test their Brooks trail running shoes over our 5 km course.
π It was certainly a busy morning for the volunteers as well, and we were delighted to have three students join us and assist with various volunteer tasks. A big thank you to all our volunteers for helping make the event possible.
π A huge thank you goes to Councillor Rob Quintas for arranging the recent roadworks on the route. Many runners commented on how much improved the course was, and the Brooks test shoes came back clean instead of covered in mud! π
π Thank you to all our volunteers, runners, walkers, and visitors for another wonderful parkrun morning.
π
We look forward to welcoming everyone back next week as we begin a brand-new month of parkrun in June!

At Hout Bay parkrun Event 339, 52 participants took part in an enjoyable morning run.
A special mention to Rowan Rossouw for an impressive time of 20:53.
Congratulations also go to Amy Calis on completing her 100th parkrun, and to Paul Visser on reaching the incredible milestone of his 250th parkrun. Thank you both for choosing Hout Bay for these special achievements.
A big thank you as well to the Pinelands MC parkrunners who came out to support Paulβs 250th run at his home parkrun of Hout Bay.
Another remarkable achievement was Moir Erlim from Pinelands MC parkrunners completing her 68th parkrun at Hout Bay at the age of 94 β truly inspiring!
Although the route was unfortunately quite muddy, everybody still enjoyed a great run. Hopefully the muddy sections will be sorted out soon. Thanks to the Friends of the River for putting down wood chips at the start, and to the volunteers who contributed towards that effort.
Finally, thank you to all the volunteers for once again putting up their hands and making the event possible β and to Alan for taking 140 photos during the morning.

Hout Bay parkrun event 338, 34 participants enjoyed a beautiful cloud-free and wind-free morning at a cool 15Β°C for this weekβs parkrun.
Congratulations to William Robertson, who finished in an impressive 21:13 β well done! π
The route was great overall, although there were a few very muddy patches along the way. But being in the Hout Bay wetlands, a bit of mud and water is all part of the experience! πΏπ¦
A big thank you to all the volunteers who made the event possible, and to Alan for the photos. πΈ
Hope to see everyone again next week β and hopefully the weather plays along once more! βοΈ

On this April Saturday morning 45 parkrunners finished the 5 km route through parkland.
Some parts were muddy after the rain but it was a very pleasant morning in Hout Bay and the participants seemed to enjoy the exersize in spite of the few muddy patches they had to deal with.
Congratulations, Martin Killick who finished first - his time 22:03. Ricardo Vasapolli was on his heels in 22:29 minutes.

Well done to Mike Jones (22:53), who finished first out of 28 brave athletes on 2 May, despite a cold, dark morning at Hout Bay parkrun on the wetlands.
Unfortunately, the city drove trucks along the track, leaving about 100 metres of muddy sections that runners had to navigate four timesβnot the most pleasant conditions!
A big thank you to Alan for the fantastic photographs, and to all the parkrun volunteers who stepped up to assist.
Please take note of the updated access arrangements: we no longer have use of the Ambleside School field. Parking is now along Victor Road, Empire Avenue, or outside the school, followed by a short walk to the start.
Kindly avoid parking on Milner Road near the start area, as this is a no-parking zone.
After your run, join us at The Pelican (opposite KFC), our new home restaurant. Volunteers enjoy a free cup of coffee, and parkrunners can grab a coffee or cappuccino for just R29. Thereβs also a delicious breakfast menu available at great parkrun prices.
Thank you all for your cooperation and continued support!
Notice: Access to Hout Bay parkrun Start
Due to building work on the Ambleside School field, there is currently no access onto the field.
Access to the Hout Bay parkrun will therefore be via Victor Road and Manchester Road, both off Empire Avenue.
Please do not park on Milner Road, in driveways, or opposite driveways. If possible, park outside the school and walk around to the start.
Thank you for your cooperation.
