Kyokushin Karate is the style of lions. Built for the fierce. Forged through pain, discipline, and an unbreakable spirit. It is a style that has shaped and changed the trajectory of the full contact world.
Yet today, it stands fragmented. Leaders argue over legitimacy, over grading, over power and recognition. But while the heads bicker, the real work never stops.
The fighters are still in the dojo.
The students are still pushing through the gruelling sessions.
The sacrifices are still being made daily.
World championship preparation hasn’t changed. It still demands relentless hard work, discipline, and above all — the heart of a lion.
So while politics divide, the essence of Kyokushin remains. The strength. The grit. The spirit that was meant to unite us.
Maybe it’s time to stop the noise.
To move away from the ego and the power struggles.
To return to what this style was always meant to be.
A brotherhood. A standard of excellence. A way of life.
Kyokushin is the style of lions — not snakes chasing recognition.
Focus on yourself. Train hard. Stay true.
Osu.

2026 — A Year Where Respect Must Lead
As we step into 2026, let us remember this: respect will go a long way.
How we, as instructors, treat one another is exactly what we teach our children — whether we realise it or not. You don’t teach respect by speaking about it; you teach it by living it. Be a good sensei, not in what you say, but in what you do.
In Kyokushin especially, bullying among instructors has sadly become common. It’s painful to see how some belittle, trample on, and undermine one another. Even more painful is seeing how, sometimes, the more stripes a person has, the worse the behaviour becomes.
I did not become a black belt to show power.
I did not become a black belt to hold authority over others.
A black belt is merely a symbol — a symbol of years of sacrifice, discipline, bruises, losses, lessons, and growth. We fought for the recognition of these belts so that justice could prevail for the years of training, so that we could make a difference, and yes, so that we could have a voice. Because the truth is, many title holders don’t listen unless you carry stripes on your belt.
But stripes were never meant to divide us.
In 2026, let us hold hands.
Let us do right by the kids.
Let us remember that this journey is not about ego.
To everyone opening new doors this year — all the best. I truly hope that in 2026 we learn to work together with everybody, not just our own organisations.
Osu.

🥋 That’s What Karate Is 🥋

Every now and then, you see something truly special in the dojo.

Kids walk through the door for the first time — some shy, some unsure, some struggling to find their balance or focus. Some with learning challenges, autism, or confidence issues. You can see the uncertainty in their eyes… but you also see potential.

Week after week, they train. They learn discipline, focus, and movement. They fall, get back up, try again — and again.

Then months later… it’s grading day. The same kids who once couldn’t coordinate a simple move are now performing katas seamlessly. They move with confidence, they listen, they focus — they shine.

You see moms wiping away tears. Dads standing tall with pride. The same kids who once struggled are now unstoppable.

And when parents tell us, “The teachers at school are asking what changed — what are you doing differently?”
The answer is simple: Karate.

Because karate isn’t just kicks and punches.
It’s growth.
It’s discipline.
It’s confidence.
It’s being better than yesterday.

🥋 That’s what karate is. 🥋
