A little while ago, Fred Richardson, Mindful Runner, told us he was building something new.
For the last year, he’s been quietly working away on Sigwren, an AI running coach designed to help runners train smarter. He’s finally ready to let people loose on it, and he asked if the Cape Cobra community would be the first to put it through its paces.
As a Cape Cobra entrant, you’ll receive 3 months of Sigwren FREE as a founding beta tester. The only thing Fred asks in return is your honest feedback.
Use it, challenge it, tell him what works and what doesn’t. Your input will help shape where Sigwren goes next.
To complement your training, we’re also giving every entrant exclusive access to Zlaant for just R15/month for 3 months.
Inside you’ll find strength and conditioning, injury prevention, rehab, expert advice, guided meditations plus every episode of the Cape Cobra Channel as we document the road to race day.
We want everyone arriving on that start line feeling as prepared as possible and we think these two tools work brilliantly together.
📩 All the sign-up details have been sent to entrants in this month’s Cobra Pulse newsletter. Check your inbox.

To understand the trophies… you first have to understand the sculptor who created them 🐍
In this episode of The Cobra Channel, Robbie Rorich shares his fascination with the Cape Cobra, how the snake has shaped his art and why the mountain continues to inspire the way he moves through life.
It’s a conversation about more than running. It’s about slowing down, seeing beauty where others see fear or pain and finding the thread that connects art, nature and endurance.

🐍 RECCE #1 // WHAT A MORNING.
What a way to kick off the Cape Cobra Recce Series.
The trails delivered. The weather played along. The community showed up. And the finish at Beau Constantia was something special.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped create such an incredible atmosphere. It was awesome seeing runners from both the Cobra and Puffer communities sharing the trails, chatting over coffee, pizza and wine, and simply enjoying what trail running is all about.
The feedback has been phenomenal, and we’re delighted to say Beau Constantia loved hosting us just as much as we loved being there… so we’re coming back!
A massive thank you to Beau Constantia, vida e caffè, REVIVE | Daily Electrolytes, Gozney South Africa, The Deli Social, our photographers, volunteers, the pulse and all of our partners who helped make the day possible.
NEXT UP → 8 AUGUST 🐍
📍 Kloof Corner → Beau Constantia
We’ll be starting a little earlier, keeping numbers a bit smaller, and to support our incredible host venue, a breakfast roll will be included with your entry.
Registrations are now open.
The Cobra WhatsApp community gets first access, and over half the available spots have already been snapped up.
If you’d like to join us, don’t wait too long.
We’ll see you back on the mountain on 8 August.

Every race has a story. Ours has just begun, and we plan to capture it all.
From now until race day, we’ll be dropping a new episode every week, taking you behind the scenes and introducing you to the athletes, artists, conservationists, volunteers, partners and personalities who make Cape Cobra what it is.
We’ve front-loaded a few episodes to get you started, with many more stories still to come.
By the time you stand on the start line you will be a part of the pulse. You’ll know the runner beside you. You’ll know the face behind the sponsor’s banner overhead. You’ll know the people protecting the trails beneath your feet. And when you cross the finish line, it won’t feel like the end of a race, it’ll feel like celebrating with a family.
Welcome to The Cobra Channel.

Everyone deserves a chance to feel the bite 🐍
Introducing The Vineyard Labyrinth – our shortest strike.
10km | 411m of climbing through Constantia vineyards, fynbos and flowing singletrack. It’s the perfect entry into trail running, or a chance for experienced runners to empty the tank over a fast, hard effort.
This isn’t an easy option. It’s a venomous race with a proper challenge.
Entries are limited, so if the longer distances aren’t for you, this is your chance to join the Cobra party, support your mates out on course and be part of a brand-new event on the South African trail calendar.
🐍 The reckoning starts here.
