CHILDREN’S AUDITION NOTICE
Oliver!
The South African Production Produced by Pieter Toerien and Cape Town Opera.
We are thrilled to announce open auditions for boys to join the South African cast of Oliver! the beloved musical by Lionel Bart. This new South African production will rehearse from November 2026, with performances in Cape Town (December 2026 to January 2027) and Johannesburg
(January to March 2027).

Roles Available
• Oliver (3 boys required)
o These performers will alternate in the role of Oliver and must be available to tour and do both
Cape Town and Johannesburg seasons.
• Fagin’s Gang & Workhouse Children (Ensemble of boys)
o Cape Town–based boys will perform in the Cape Town run only.
o Johannesburg–based boys will perform during in Johannesburg run only.

Requirements for All Boys
• Age: 9–12 years.
• Height: No taller than 147 cm (4’10”).
• Voice: Strong singers with unbroken voices.
• Skills: Some dance/movement ability is required.
• Residency: Must be based in South Africa (Cape Town or Johannesburg)

Audition Preparation
• Please prepare the sheet music provided on registration.
• Be ready to demonstrate basic movement ability.
Important Information
• All children must be accompanied to auditions by a parent/guardian.
• Please do not register children who do not meet the requirements.
