From the moment I stepped into Phenom, I felt an undeniable sense of belonging. This isn’t just a gym; it’s a community (corny I know) that has transformed my life in ways I never imagined. The coaches are not only incredibly skilled but also genuinely invested in each of our journeys. They push us to challenge ourselves, celebrate our victories, and help us navigate our struggles with unwavering support.
The members here have become like family to me. We share laughs, sweat, and sometimes tears as we train together and sharpen one another. Each punch thrown and every round completed brings us closer, creating bonds that extend far beyond the ring. Whether it's motivating each other during tough workouts or celebrating personal milestones, the camaraderie is what makes this place truly special... 99% of the way we celebrate our differences would get us 25 years in prison but alas.
I’ve grown stronger—physically, mentally, and spiritually—thanks to the guidance and encouragement I’ve received. Coach and Phenom has taught me resilience and discipline, but more importantly, it has instilled a sense of belonging that I cherish deeply. I am forever grateful to be a part of this extraordinary family.
For not just teaching me how to box, but for helping me discover my true strength and find a home away from home.
Praise the Lord!

I’ve been a member of Phenom boxing academy for the last 4 years and there’s only one word to sum up what it means to me— HOME.
It’s been a place that has played a pivotal role in my life as I transitioned from being a carefree young man to becoming a father and becoming more stable in the working world . With a job as a high school educator ,stress and all sorts of pressure that can affect mental health. This was one of the things I enjoyed about training at Phenom. It made me realise the importance of being present as the sport comes with painful consequences if you let your mind wonder for even a second .
I also like the inclusivity at the gym as it creates the sense of belonging . Once you enter doors all religious and racial barriers go out of the door as we work together achieving our fitness goals. The gym is home to those who aren’t typically athletic and may want to lose weight or improve their fitness, while it also caters for those who want to excel as a boxer both amateur and professional.
I’ve had my ups and downs at Phenom, experiencing both victories and defeats in the ring but one thing remained constant - the support the rest of the team showed
The gym also prides itself on female empowerment n hosts various events that fosters this initiative .
While being at the gym I’ve witnessed people lose over 30kgs. I’ve also seen couples in their 60s challenge each other to do better.
I am forever indebted to the owners Farhaaz and Tasriq Sayed who welcomed me with open arms , taught me the art of boxing and gave me a whole new sense of confidence to take on any challenge that life throws. I’ve met some amazing coaches such as the age defying Tony Mayala who is probably one of the best boxers on the planet yet exudes humility and always has time to give advice etc .

The Dream
My experience at Phenom is something which one cannot feel without knowing the term family. We come into the gym with the world on our right shoulder, tipping us to the edge of a cliff however, our family Phenom just manages to find a way to create a comfortable and healthy arm to keep you balanced in life and keep you dead in the centre to focus and accomplish things our minds at times say is impossible. We have learned to take that word and never use it because as creation of the almighty, with guidance and wisdom you are capable of creating and making “magic” happen. I was influenced to box after some time in the MMA space because I just felt that I needed to learn more about stand up fundamentals and what I came to realise is that it’s not as easy as it seems, boxing requires you to make effort, you need to be focused and it may seem like too much at first however, you will learn to love it the way we all do and it will be a part of your life. I would always speak about Phenom in a way that will show others that with a confident mindset, a family around you with the best coaches and training partners, brothers and sisters, no matter where you come from, you will learn to unlock that part of you which you were meant to do throughout your life. If you someone that comes in with a mindset that makes you WANT to be the best, good for you however, don’t come in with a mindset thinking you BETTER than the next person, big difference. Come in, enjoy the moment, enjoy the space around you and give everything you have into that training session because you have no idea that it will be very thing that changes your world. I always get asked, “What is your dream?”. My dream is to call myself one of the best in the world, something that this very gym, is helping me accomplish. Take this from someone who had to work hard and go through every single pain there is in this world, once you wrap that gloves on, it’s as if you a being bandaged up and healed from what’s been hurting and in return, building you to be happy and content with your life and just knowing at the end of the day, I did my best.
