We are looking forward to hosting the inaugural Black Mountain Ultra in the beautiful Klein Karoo. Runners will discover historical trails on their epic adventure on 25 April 2026. Entries closing 3 April.

𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐠 𝐌𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐌𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐔𝐥𝐭𝐫𝐚. Choose from the 73, 43, 19 or 6km race. Each one features its own unique mix of trail terrain, including mountainous climbs, technical single track, fast flowing trails and jeep track, making it varied and challenging at the same time. The Black Mountain Ultra will give adventurous trail runners the chance to immerse themselves in the rugged and magnificent landscapes of the Klein Karoo. They can look forward to a trail experience like no other, where the Gamkaskloof, Die Hel and the Donkey Trail are just some of the highlights on the 73 and 43km routes. Get ready for a race weekend like no other at The Retreat at Groenfontein. The Race Village tented camp will be open from 23–26 April 2026.

What to expect:
Meals by The Retreat at Groenfontein on 23, 24 April, and breakfast on the 26th
Red Bridge Brewing Co on-site from 23 April
Finishers meal for all runners on 25 April.
Festivities at the finish line with food stalls, wine tastings, music and more
Point-to-point participants bag transfer from your start line to the finish village
Optional early-morning shuttles on 25 April if you prefer to stay in the race village rather than at the start line.
Explorer tent (Mattress bring your own bedding) or Deluxe tent (2 Beds with Bedding) options available.
