We're almost there. Let's do this thing! Nice work MTN SACS Rugby

MTN Springboks: South Africa’s got U, Bokke This is a Springbok team like never before, a team representative of every South African. Imagine how unstoppable we would be if every South African got behi...

SACS vs Paarl Gimnasium: 25 May 2019 25/05/2019

They came, the saw, they played outstanding rugby as always. Always awesome to watch Paarl Gimnasium take the game of rugby to the next level. Well played okes. Some fairly interesting scores posted up on the boards today, but the SACS Eerste Span showed some outstanding guts against quality opponents. It was all over at 41 - 19, but heck, did these teams ever entertain. Tot volgende jar kerels...

SACS vs Rondebosch: 18 May 2019 21/05/2019

Another classic morning of rugby at Rondebosch Boys High this past weekend with all the teams putting in maximum effort. The coffee was good, the burgers leeeeekker, the spirit and sportsmanship exceptional - just good stuff all round. Both schools took 7 games apiece and then Bosch edged it, winning the main game 27-8. Well done Bosch, you deserved the victory!

SACS vs Paarl Boys High: 28 July 2018 30/07/2018

Daar's hy. Nog 'n SACS/Boishaai round of games under the belt. With the new SACS pavilion standing proudly below the lush Newlands Forest, the kerels from Paarl arrived. I went for one of those cream doughnut jobs for breakfast. Nothing like a sugar rush at 8.30am to get the body moving. Not that I needed it, because the running and tackling and effort levels on the fields were enough to get the blood pumping. Boishaai were at it again - hammer and tongs. Sublime handling skills, hard running, intensity that raised both eyebrows. And sportsmanship! Hats off to both schools. These young okes do us proud. It's very clear that both SACS and Boishaai work hard behind the scenes to ensure that it's not just performance but also participation that counts. Good for you, because it's a pleasure to watch. The 1st XV game ended with Boishaai taking it 25-10. Mooi julle. After the match I jumped onto a plane to go and shoot a medical conference in Durb's. It had to do with respiratory issues. Ironic really, because Saturday's rugby across the board left one feeling a little breathless. Volgende naweek it's Boishaai against Paarl Gym - travel up to Namibia and you'll probably hear the tackles. SACS take on Bishops. Good luck to all teams. SACS Rugby Brug Street, Boishaai

SACS vs Rondebosch: 2 June 2018 07/06/2018

Bosch came the party at a very wet, windy and rainy SACS on Saturday and left having taken the spoils 24 - 5. They deserved to take the game, showing resilience and more rugby brains and creativity throughout. The games were all fantastic to watch as the players slipped this way and that in the mud - except of course for most of the wings who all generally seem to leave the field looking exactly the same way they ran on. But let's not generalise shall we? Anyway, the rugby was far, far, far more entertaining to watch than what we had to endure deep into Saturday night. Let's hope the Boks give England a very warm and hearty reception this weekend. And good luck Siya - make us proud bro.

SACS vs Stellenberg, 19 May 2018 19/05/2018

A while ago I wrote an article on ‘How to take schoolboy rugby photos’ on my official website www.warrenwilliams.co.za It gets a lot of hits. Clearly, people don’t always want to see brides in nice ‘frokke’ and happy families on beaches. One point that I left out of that article, was something you should really look at when taking rugby photos. And that’s simply, faces. Because the faces on the field tell a great story. You don’t always want to be following the ball. You want to be following the faces. You want to see the snot flying, the sweat dripping and the sheer blooded determination. So focus on the face – not just during play but after the whistle as well. You’ll also find that a player’s eyes will tell you a lot about who and what they are on that field (coaches, a pair of binoculars wouldn’t be a bad investment) because you’ll see things that will reveal plenty about your team. So today, I tried to focus a bit more on faces. I hope it assists in helping parents and young photographers who want to get a bit more out of their efforts. Try it next week and see how your shots come out. That all said, well done to a resilient Stellenberg team who took SACS 25 -23 in a never-say-die game of entertaining rugby. Lekker.

SACS vs Bishops, 6 May 2018 07/05/2018

What a great day of rugby down at Bishops on Saturday. Outstanding sportsmanship from every team on the various fields, pretty decent behaviour from all supporters, and some insightful, brilliant commentary and coaching from the sidelines by some of South Africa's most knowledgeable parents. Nick Mallet would have been proud. 'Stay on his inside, stay on his inside.' 'Go over, go over.' 'Held up, help up.' 'Good tackle, good tackle.' 'Send it wide, send it wide.' Deep stuff. And all very well intended. Because rugby is all about getting involved no matter whether you're on or off the field. So nicely played there mom with your unreserved: 'Come ooooon Bishops.' And while we're on the topic, the Bishops 1st XV ran out well deserved 19-7 winners against a SACS team that, although throwing the kitchen sink at their rivals in defence, were just a tad too one dimensional with ball in hand. Will the boys from Dean Street learn from their mistakes? Time will tell...
