During the recent April holidays, a group of ex-Sunningdale and Green Point U14 (Under the Sun Academy) players, coming together under UTS Sunningdale , took part in the WPCC Test20 tournament β€” and came away as champions.

After a difficult start to the week, the boys showed real resilience and character to turn things around. It would have been easy for the tournament to go the other way, but instead they responded with intent and a clear commitment to playing for each other.

What stood out most was the team-first approach throughout. The boys consistently put the result ahead of individual performance, and that showed in how they played and supported one another.

Some highlights from the tournament:
‒ Top Bowler: Kai Dahms
‒ Half-centuries: Daniel Theron, Duane Morkel, Tariq Eskinazi, Jarred Louw (final)
‒ 5-wicket haul: Kai Dahms
‒ 4-wicket haul (Final): Phoenix van Zyl

Every player contributed at different moments β€” when one was under pressure, another stepped up. That is what makes a strong team.

A big thank you to coach Patrick from UTS for his time, energy and guidance during the week.

And well done to WPCC for putting together a fantastic tournament β€” hopefully the first of many in this format.
