Pulling in public, pulling as one 🤝🇿🇦

The 2026 Indoor Tug of War Team joined forces with the amazing community of Stellenbosch Municipality — proving that strength isn’t just about power, it’s about unity.

From seasoned athletes to municipality members on the rope, this is what togetherness looks like. 💚💛

One rope. One team. One South Africa.

This is national team training in South Africa.

Early mornings, long runs, and relentless effort at Camps Bay Beach. Carried out with purpose, unity, and discipline. These training sessions are the foundation of high-performance sport, resilience, and national pride.

We commend the commitment of every athlete who continues to give their all, even when the work is demanding and the road is long.

Training demands discipline, consistency, and hard work but it’s the people who make the journey sustainable.

Moments of laughter and lightness during training remind us that strong teams are built not only through effort, but through unity, trust, and shared purpose.

This is the spirit behind the work.

It’s not just strength. It’s timing, trust, and discipline.
Every detail matters when a team moves as one.

This level of precision reflects the commitment, preparation, and unity behind the President’s Team as they continue to represent Indoor Tug of War with pride.

Behind every training session and competition day are athletes who bring heart, commitment, and humanity to the team.

Moments like these remind us that strength is not only physical - it’s found in joy, unity, and the relationships that hold the team together.

We celebrate the people behind the pull.

Introducing Fanele Mkhwanazi, a powerful example of resilience, discipline, and purpose.

Fanele’s Tug of War journey began with a desire to build mental toughness and resilience - skills she carries into her life as a librarian at the University of Cape Town and through her leadership and volunteer work in her church community.

Training is demanding, especially the runs and steep hills, but encouragement from her teammates and the shared commitment to push through adversity keep her moving forward.

Now a candidate to represent South Africa, Fanele approaches this responsibility with humility and gratitude, recognising the honour of carrying her country forward and the commitment required to do so with integrity.

“Standing here as a candidate to represent South Africa, I am humbled. I take this duty seriously and am encouraged to keep pushing to be the best version of myself.” - Fanele Mkhwanazi

We are proud to celebrate athletes like Fanele, whose journey reflects the values of perseverance, unity, and purpose.

Moments like these remind us that while this team shares laughs, they also share an unwavering commitment to the work.

Discipline. Dedication. Consistency.
Every squat, every set, every session is part of preparing to represent something bigger than themselves.

We are proud of the hard work this team continues to put in - together.
