🚨 INCIDENT REPORT: Cardiac Arrest secondary to Choking
📅 DATE: 10 May, 2025
📌 LOCATION: Suiderberg, Pretoria

Our dedicated team at Best Care Emergency Medical Service responded to a critical incident involving an elderly female who was actively choking, resulting in a complete airway obstruction and subsequent cardiac arrest.

Thanks to the rapid response by our Advanced Life Support and Cardiac Unit made possible by Chery Centurion, and expert intervention of our paramedics, Xander Loubser and Dr Khoza, we were able to quickly assess the situation and take decisive action. Using advanced airway management tools, they successfully removed the foreign body from her airway.

With the aid of a corpuls World Mechanical resuscitation device, made available by Medicare Hospital Equipment, they administered high-quality CPR, leading to the patient’s successful revival. We are pleased to report that she regained neurological function, was able to speak, and is now stable for further evaluation and care at the hospital.
