Dean Venter – 2026 Genesis Archery Afrika Federasie Algehele Kampioen

Dean Venter is ’n 13-jarige Graad 7-leerder aan Laerskool Rustenburg. Dean is ’n hardwerkende, selfversekerde en hulpvaardige jong man met sterk leierseienskappe, deursettingsvermoë en goeie waardes.

Dean se boogskietloopbaan het in Graad 4, in 2023, begin. Reeds tydens sy eerste groot kompetisie, die AGA-SA Nasionale Interskole Boogskietkampioenskap in Springs, Gauteng, is hy aangewys as die beste Graad 4 Bullseye-skut met ’n telling van 274 uit 300. Dit was die begin van ’n merkwaardige boogskietloopbaan van ’n jong man met ’n natuurlike aanleg en besondere talent vir boogskiet.

Sedertdien het Dean hom jaar ná jaar tussen die beste skuts in Suid-Afrika gevestig. Hy het onder andere AGA-SA Nasionale span-eerbewyse, Noordwes-provinsiale kleure, nasionale kampioenskapstitels en verskeie individuele kampioenskapstitels verwerf. In 2025 het hy onder meer die Primêre Seunskutkampioen en Algehele Primêre Skutkampioen by die AGA-SA Nasionale Interprovinsiale Boogskietkampioenskap geword, met die hoogste telling van die kampioenskap – 295 uit 300. Hy is ook in 2025 as Sportseun van die Jaar by Laerskool Rustenburg aangewys.

Wat Dean egter besonders maak, is nie net sy prestasies nie, maar die manier waarop hy dit bereik. Hy is kalm en gefokus wanneer hy kompeteer en vertrou op sy vermoëns, maar bly terselfdertyd nederig. Hy luister na sy afrigters, werk hard aan sy tegniek en is bereid om ekstra oefening in te sit om sy vaardighede te verbeter. Wanneer hy teleurstelling ervaar, gebruik hy dit as motivering om harder te werk en terug te keer.

Dean is ook ’n spanmaat wat ander ondersteun en aanmoedig. Hy tree met respek teenoor ander leerders en volwassenes op en is betrokke by verskeie ander sport- en kultuuraktiwiteite by die skool. Akademies presteer hy ook uitstekend en is hy gereeld onder die skool se Top 15 akademiese presteerders.

Vir Dean beteken dit baie om Suid-Afrika te verteenwoordig. Dit is iets waarvoor hy hard gewerk het en waarvoor hy baie trots is. Sy jongste prestasie om as die 2026 Genesis Archery Afrika Federasie Algehele Kampioen gekroon te word, is vir hom ’n besonderse oomblik. Hoewel hy baie nederig is, is hy tereg trots waarop hy bereik het.

Dean se volgende doelwitte is om weer die 2027 AGA-SA Nasionale Span te verteenwoordig, sy persoonlike beste tellings te verbeter en die beste moontlike posisies tydens die 2026 Interprovinsiale en Interskole-kampioenskappe te behaal. Hy wil ook graag weer die Noordwes- en Larries-boogskietspanne help om die beste moontlike posisies te behaal.
Buite boogskiet en skool geniet Dean dit om tyd op die plaas deur te bring en is hy betrokke by ’n wye verskeidenheid sport- en kultuuraktiwiteite.

Dean is uiteindelik ’n hardwerkende, talentvolle en nederige jong man met goeie waardes. Iemand wat nie net daarna streef om ’n goeie skut te wees nie, maar ook om ’n goeie spanmaat en voorbeeld vir ander te wees.
