Delicious kombucha right on my doorstep. Flavoured with beetroot or ginger (which also adds more health benefits), and now also a Moringa tea. You can buy directly from them at their factory in Centurion, which makes it pretty cost effective.

Expectation can be a killjoy.
Find joy in the little things, and let everything else go. It’ll make life easier, & you will be more at peace with life.

Grounding = having your feet in direct contact with the earth.
This is something that our ancestors did daily without thinking about it. Nowadays, for us living in cities with paving & fake grass, and shoes for every occasion, we have to make a conscious decision to make direct contact with the earth.
I love my outside Bootcamp, and in summer I do it barefoot. I’d like to say that it’s for all the reasons listed above, but a bigger benefit to me is the direct physical impact - less aches & pains (which I’m starting to realise have to be managed more diligently the older I get). And the feel of the soft green grass underfoot is amazing!
I’ve converted 1 or 2 fellow bootcampers, but the rest are stuck in their shoes… 🤣

Have you heard of aquafaba?
It’s the juice in canned chickpeas you usually chuck down the drain. Did you know it’s a brilliant replacement for egg in most recipes? And you can you beat it stiff just like egg whites. It takes a while but it holds beautifully!
I’ve been wanting to try this for quite some time but we’re not big on legumes (unfortunately can lead to bloatedness). So yesterday we were experimenting with chickpea muffins for the kids’ lunchboxes and I just had to try it.
Beat the liquid till stiff. It took us about 20mins. Add in a pinch of salt and a tablespoon of maple syrup or honey.
Melt a small slab of dark chocolate, and fold it in.
Divide into ramekins (we got 5 full-to-the-brim small ramekins) and place in the fridge for 1-2 hrs. That’s it!
The perfect Sunday eve desert. Light & fluffy. And very chocolatey.
Let me know if you’ve tried it!

Many wise words have been spoken (rather, written) by Max Lucado. These words are no different. Follow the masses and you’ll remain one of the sheep. In order to lead, to stand out, you have to do something different. Be yourself, do what you were made for, follow the truth & take control of your own life. It’ll be worth it.

It’s back to school today, which means it’s Chocolate Protein Brownies time again!
These black bean brownies are a treat staple in my home & it satisfies the sweet crave without sacrificing too much on the health side. Win-win!

Action. A tiny word with a huge impact.
Being a dreamer is great - we need to think big, think out of the box, & imagine different future possibilities.
But getting stuck in dreams will not get you anywhere.
Dreams are the goals we set ourselves, & we need to work it in order to move closer to those goals.
If you want to realise your dreams - jump into action!

Today is World Cancer Day. A good day to reflect on our cancer journey. Although I’ve always preferred the word “quest” as it’s kinda a journey with a purpose.
Our purpose being to become as healthy in body & mind as we can. To prevent diagnoses of secondary cancers due to the toxic cocktails & radiation. To prevent any more diagnoses of dis-ease in our family.
It requires a mind-set change. A change in eating habits. A lifestyle change. Adding in certain things (veggies, movement, clean water etc), and cutting out other things (cane sugar, dairy, wheat etc.). And focusing on the positive.
It’s been 17 years, and this quest is ongoing. We’ve had our ups & downs, but overall health is something that is in reach - for all of us. Once you’ve tasted it you don’t want to go back. Yes, even then I’ve veered off the path, but the effects are felt & then I have to get back on track again. And that’s okay too. That’s life. MY life. The lives of my kids. It can be yours too.
Give me a shout if you need some help.
I love spreading the joy of health!

I have a friend with a huge veggie garden and an even bigger heart. When we visit them we always leave with hands full of veggies. Last weekend we collected 2 shopping bags full of beautifully ripe organically grown brown onions. So I had no choice: onion marmelade it had to be! It’s amazing by how much the caramelisation process reduces the volume. I got 3 bottles filled to the brim, with a little extra that had to be eaten immediately. 😜 Homemade, with all natural ingredients & no preservatives or colourants is always best. Yummy!
