As 2025 draws to a close, we look back with appreciation for another community-centred year at Riverside Sports Club.

Our sporting codes continue to thrive, and the energy around the club - from early-morning practices to weekend fixtures - reflects the passion and commitment of our members.

Your continued support makes it possible for the club to maintain and improve facilities, host events, and ensure that all sporting disciplines have what they need to grow.

We are so grateful for the role each of you plays in keeping Riverside the welcoming, active home that it is - thank you.

Our sincere thanks to our dedicated volunteers, coaches, and committee members. Their time, expertise, and enthusiasm help to ensure that the club runs smoothly and that every sporting code has the guidance it needs to flourish.

What a triumph, especially in this landmark 50th anniversary year for Riverside FC.

⭐ Comments from our Riverside FC Chairman: ⬇️

This has been a historic season for us. We clinched the GDLFA Premier League title a month ago (with four games still to play), marking our first top-flight league championship in many years. The recent GDLFA Bowl victory added another major trophy and provided the perfect finale to a season of hard work, resilience and belief.

This success goes beyond the 1st team. Our U12 B, U12 C, and U15 A squads also won their league titles, underlining the depth and talent coming through our system. To accelerate that development, we’ve promoted four U15 players into the 1st team squad for the upcoming SAFA eThekwini Zonal League — a clear signal that our pathway from grassroots to senior football is working. For our young players, this is proof that their dedication can take them all the way to the top level. 🤩

Our immediate focus now turns to the SAFA eThekwini Zonal League, where we are aiming for back-to-back promotions. We’re proud to be bringing this high level of football back to the Durban North community — something that has been missing for a long time.

📢 Just as important, we’re proud to now offer our community top-level live football on the weekends, and we hope to see Riverside packed out for every home game.

Our ultimate ambition is to build a club that truly belongs to its members and creates a clear pathway for young footballers: starting at Riverside from the U6 level, developing their talent, and (if good enough) earning the opportunity to play professional football at Riverside. 🤩 Our vision is to become the first professional football club to be born out of the Durban North area.

Details of the Bowl final against Sharks:

We overcame Sharks Academy with a commanding 4–0 scoreline. 🏆 Goals came from Serge Montiny (2), Mfanafuthi Gumede and Khayelihle Hlatshwayo. The team executed with composure and determination, finishing the season strong and giving our supporters a fitting celebration.
