Training in Wu-Shin TodeJutsu also enables the practitioner to achieve and sustain excellent levels of health, physical and mental fitness, cardio-vascular endurance, functional physical strength, and flexibility – while learning the basics of practical anatomy, physiology, and nutrition. Significant emphasis is placed on self-control and respect for one’s own personal well-being and that of fellow students during training; recognising that our personal, social, and business responsibilities obviously require that intelligent training methods (supported by the appropriate levels of self-discipline) reduce the risk of personal injury to acceptable levels. Wu-Shin TodeJutsu, as an ‘art form’ also recognises that our ultimate ‘journey’ must be inward, not outward, to discover the sources of human weakness and strength. Understanding this truth, we accept that all our battles to achieve true personal growth must be first fought and won within before we can ever improve our outer circumstances and daily lives. We are studying an art that conditions the body, cultivates the mind, and nurtures the spirit. Instruction in Wu-Shin TodeJutsu is provided on a ‘personal basis’, determined by the ‘individuality’ of each student and is conducted on a one-on-one basis within a small, group-class environment. Guidance proceeds at the pace dictated by the capabilities, understanding, and rate of progress of each student, while constantly emphasising the three essential elements of Health, Conflict Management, and Personal Growth. We encourage a mind-set that lives life with every breath, lives in the moment, takes responsibility for our actions, and adjudges Respect, Sincerity, Commitment, and Compassion as expressions of the emotionally mature individual.
