Lao-tze (Bob Davies), our teacher, our inspiration for embarking on the path of the free spirit, has reconnected with his spirit and has moved onto the next phase of his journey. We pray for him and wish him well in the next phase of his wu-shin chi dao.
We have been blessed to have his path intertwine with ours and his spirit and teachings will live on in us in this earthly realm as we strive to follow in his footsteps.

As per the annual Wu-shin tradition, the Wu-shin Kokoro Dojo honoured the end of 2014 and ushered in 2015 with two-thousand and fifteen repetitions of a specific technique. This year the technique was the double sinawali with tanbo (2 sticks). This includes a warm-up run on the beach, Sanchin kata, a refreshing ocean swim and healthy breakfast afterwards.
The chosen location is facing the beautiful Indian ocean in the early hours of the morning. Facing the waves and the blazing summer sunshine is symbolic of the inevitable challenges to come in the coming year - but which we embrace - with tenacity and peace.

Some people choose to usher in the new year through fire-works, wining, dining and merriment - for the members of the Wu-Shin Kokoro Dojo, it provides an opportunity to usher in the new year in a more introspective way - by igniting one's inner-fire in order to reflect on the past year and light the way for the new year.
How do we do this?
..Through the traditional year-end training session established by the Wu-Shin Chi-Dao Foundation for Self-Development. For the Wu-Shin Kokoro Dojo this year, it involved doing 2014 kicks of a particular technique, including a jab-punch for the lucky seniors.
We face the ocean, symbolic of the past and future currents of life, and through counts of one to two-thousand and fourteen, we strive for 'spirituality through physicality' using perseverance, sweat, smiles, and self-introspection through it all. Therein, our spirits are fired, freed and renewed with a sense of purpose and joy for the new year.
After the work is done, we enjoy the fruits of the labour, literally, through a healthy breakfast of things natural and wholesome.

One Saturday morning a month, the Wu-Shin Kokoro dojo's junior and senior students train out in the open after a dose of "Wu-Shin shuffling" to wake up the senses in the wee hours of dawn. We also have "bring a friend" events on certain combined classes. If you're interested to join us for our next "bring a friend" combined class, let us know...

A fascinating summary of Tahmid Sempai & Warren Sempai's training visit with Lao Tze in New Zealand, including some amazing photography.
An energised start
Late on 2nd January Tahmid Sempai and Warren Sempai landed in Christchurch, following their long-haul flight from Durban, South Africa, for a two-week training visit. After a day off for rest and recovery, which included a sightseeing tour to Akaroa - and joining Lao Tze in his current gong of 100 s...
