Meet Nyakallo Sekhethela, known to many as Charlie — a young, driven cyclist from Soweto with his sights set on the world stage.

Charlie’s journey with Team Siata began at CSC - Cycle Specialist Club development program as an amateur rider. His dedication, discipline, and passion for the sport have seen him progress to professional cycling, where he now rides for Team Siata. His work ethic and commitment in cycling reflect the same qualities we saw in Siyanda Gumede, a rider we developed over five years with Team Siata who has since advanced to a continental team.

Beyond the bike, Charlie is a third-year student studying Microbiology and Geography. Balancing the demands of academics and professional sport is no small feat, yet he continues to excel in both. He draws inspiration from former National Champion and history-maker Dániyal Matthews and aims to reach similar heights in his own career. We are confident that his consistency and commitment will continue to yield results.

Today, we bid farewell to our champ and history maker, Dániyal Matthews as he joins his new continental team, Tshenolo Pro Cycling TPCT. Daniyal has been with Team Siata for 2 years and 2 months, and his journey with us is a testament to what Team Siata stands for: Touching Hearts, Changing Lives through Cycling.

We've touched Daniyal's life through support, Guidance and mentorship, and he's been a key figure in Siata, winning the biggest stage at the 2025 South African National Road Championships in Midvaal. Through our support structure, Daniyal's grown from a rider to a team captain and part of management as Head of CSI, Entrepreneurship, and Education 🤝.

Daniyal's taken inspiration from Team Siata's initiatives, offering free math tutoring to our riders, helping them excel in their education. We've always prayed for this day, for Daniyal to join a continental team and pursue his dream onto the world stage.

As Siata, part of our mission's to see our riders progress to bigger teams, and we're proud to see this mission achieved. Daniyal's a man of the people, kind, gentle, humble, and knowledgeable, with a pedigree that speaks for itself 🏅.

We believe in what Daniyal's learned with Siata, and we know he'll take it further to inspire others and give back 🤝. As we say goodbye to his journey at Siata, it marks a new era for Daniyal. DOUBLE WEEKEND FOR TEAM SIATA 🚴🏽🚴🏽

This Sunday, Siata riders will be hitting the road for two different races in two different provinces:

In Johannesburg, Gauteng, we have Dániyal Matthews and Ntsako Sarila racing the 125 km Dis-Chem Ride For Sight Ride for Sight, a classic event for GP-based riders.

Then, in Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape, we have our u17 Riley Cyclefit and u19 Callum Reed who will tackle the long-standing The Herald Cycle Tour which will be run over 106 km.

Both races will be super challenging, but we know that our boys are ready and will give it 100%!
