KZN PROVINCIAL INDIGENOUS GAMES 2026 | DAY ONE 🏆

The KZN Provincial Indigenous Games 2026 are officially underway!

Day One came to a close following a vibrant Opening Ceremony held at the Kings Park Athletics Stadium. Prior to the ceremony, Hoy Park in Durban was already buzzing with excitement as athletes took to the field to compete in some of the province’s indigenous sporting codes.

The action continues tomorrow as the clusters battle it out for provincial glory, with the overall winner set to be announced during the Closing Ceremony. 🏆

🏅 END OF DAY TWO | SPORT AND RECREATION STAKEHOLDER WORKSHOP

The KwaZulu-Natal Sports Confederation, in partnership with the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Sport, Arts and Culture and the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education, has successfully concluded the two-day Sport and Recreation Stakeholder Workshop held at Coastlands Hotel, Durban.

Day Two featured insightful engagements on key areas including High Performance, Training and Development, Funding Opportunities, Breakaway Sessions, International Tours, and other matters aimed at strengthening the sport and recreation sector in KwaZulu-Natal.

The workshop provided a valuable platform for stakeholders to share ideas, engage on challenges, explore opportunities and develop practical solutions for the advancement of sport and recreation across the province.

As the workshop concludes, stakeholders will return to their respective organisations, structures and constituencies to implement the resolutions and outcomes agreed upon during the engagements.

KZN SPORT AND RECREATION STAKEHOLDER WORKSHOP | DAY 1

📍 Venue: Coastlands Hotel, Durban

Today, the KwaZulu-Natal Sports Confederation (KZNSC), in association with the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Sport, Arts and Culture and the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education, successfully concluded Day One of the Sport and Recreation Stakeholder Workshop at Coastlands Hotel, Durban.

The workshop brought together key stakeholders from across the sport and recreation sector, fostering meaningful engagement, collaboration and the exchange of ideas.

In attendance were Provincial Sports Federations, District Sports Confederations, Recreation Bodies, School Sports Structures, Institutions of Higher Learning, Department of Education Labour Unions, and esteemed sports legends who continue to inspire and contribute to the growth and development of sport in KwaZulu-Natal.

The discussions focused on the following key areas:

🔹 Funding opportunities and support programmes
🔹 Transformation matters in sport and recreation
🔹 School sport development and coordination
🔹 High-performance programmes and athlete development
🔹 Safeguarding in sport
🔹 International tours and participation
🔹 New developments and emerging matters within the sport and recreation sector

The workshop serves as an important platform for strengthening collaboration, addressing challenges and identifying opportunities to advance sport and recreation development across KwaZulu-Natal.

📅 Tomorrow, the workshop continues as stakeholders work towards concluding the discussions and ensuring the immediate implementation of the resolutions reached.

DAY TWO | KZN PROVINCIAL GOLDEN GAMES 2026 🏆🎉

There is nothing that beats determination and resilience! Today, we witnessed these qualities first-hand as our elderly athletes came out in numbers to represent their districts, braving the weather and showing that age is no barrier to greatness. 💪🔥

The spirit of competition, unity and sportsmanship continues to shine as our athletes battle it out for a place in Team KZN, which will represent the province at the National Golden Games.

The KZN Provincial Golden Games 2026 are officially underway! 🎉

We are thrilled to see all 11 districts represented at this year’s edition, with our elderly participants bringing energy, excitement and a passion for staying active. 💪🔥

Football kicked off the action today, and we look forward to witnessing more sporting codes take centre stage tomorrow as the games continue.

The stakes are high as our participants battle it out for an opportunity to be selected for Team KZN, which will represent the province at the National Golden Games.

To all our elderly athletes, we wish you the very best! Keep active, enjoy the competition and showcase your talent, determination and sportsmanship. 🏅
