Open water swimming event in Durban, KZN - entirely for charity! Swim 1, 4, 8 or 16 miles

The Oceans 8 Charity Swim has been started by 5 charities (DUCT, NSRI, Project Rhino, Singakwenza and WILDTRUST) to provide a reliable and sustainable flow of funding to deserving non-profits with a footprint in KwaZulu-Natal to support their work and allow them to continue to engage in and deliver on projects which have an impact and influence on education, environment, community development and upliftment for those most in need. The inaugural Oceans 8 Charity Swim will be held on the 16th & 17th (18th) June 2023 at the Durban Undersea Club.

Turning miles into kilometres that matter...

For CROW - Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife every day is a rescue mission, giving injured and orphaned wildlife a second chance.

Earlier this year, CROW’s trusted rescue vehicle was written off in an accident while responding to a rescue call.

Thanks to the incredible support of our 2026 swimmers and donors, funds raised through the Oceans 8 Charity Swims contributed towards a brand-new vehicle dedicated entirely to wildlife rescue. 🚙🐾

We’re thrilled to announce that applications are now open for charities to join the as a benefitting organisation for 2027 and 2028!

Selected charities will have the opportunity to be part of this incredible event and benefit from the funds raised through its community of swimmers and supporters.

At Oceans 8 - it also takes an incredible team of safety professionals, rescue crew & medics and volunteers who spend months planning, monitoring conditions, preparing for every possibility and keeping every swimmer safe.
