SLYZA is a commonly known township slang that means run. In Townships resides the working class which in all 9 different provinces experience similar difficulties perpetuated by poverty. This was caused by nothing else other than the Apartheid Regime which disgruntled Blacks in particular Economic power.

Behind SLYZA as a brand is a story of a boy who grew up not privileged but with an ambition of ripening to a privilege himself. It all started with altering clothes and crocheting plastic shoes to a vision of owning a Sportswear that has tangibly became a reality.

The skills attained when I had to alter clothes and shoes to my specific desire because we couldn’t afford what I desired gave birth to SLYZA.

With SLYZA, we have decided not only to narrate the South African story, but to also give hope that it is possible to run away from the tenacious chains of poverty because we are all about economic emancipation.
