Enjoying a cappuccino before training, soon-to-be international sailor, Natasha Brown from Boksburg, was down in Durban getting some much-needed sea training in before she heads off to compete in the upcoming Youth Worlds taking place in Búzios in Brazil. Today is International Coffee Day, with coffee drinkers around the globe taking the opportunity to celebrate and enjoy their brew of choice.

Brown recently competed in the ILCA Laser Nationals hosted by the Point Yacht Club where she finished ninth overall in her class. The matric student at St Dominic’s Boksburg heads back home to write her finals, and once she puts her pen down, will pack her bags and head to the world’s largest producer and exporter of coffee, Brazil, where she will race in her first ever international regatta.

The ILCA Nationals is the pinnacle event for the single-handed racing dinghy. Each year competitors across the country come together to race this challenging boat.

Durban Beach Club is proud to host the 2023 ILCA Regatta with 52 boats competing.

The three day event started off with many sailors windswept and exhausted but totally exhilarating. Weekend promises to be great weather conditions.

We invite sailors, family, friends and spectators to meet our competitors and join the fun.

Shortly after racing each day, there will be good food and great entertainment ashore to help refuel competitors and give everyone time to catch up and recall the events of the day.
