Howz this throwback...

Any suggestions of what year this was?

A picture shared on the Facebook Group called Durban History and Stories, posted a couple of days about by Brett Thevenau.

The caption reads:
'Victoria Embankment with an old mellow yellow cop van going past the entrance to Point Yacht Club.
Spent many years of my youth playing and swimming there. Actually learnt to sail dingys there.'

Go check their group out, so many interesting photos of our city.

And finally, caps off to Nolutando Radebe for being recognised too.

She earned the acknowledgement of Up and Coming Race Official / Officer for 2025.

Having spent hours on the bridge boat at various events, the sailors appreciate you for all that you do for their sport here in Durban.

This is only the second time the award has been issued, and it is for a new up and coming person in the area of race and regatta management, and is for an official who tireless gives of their time to effectively ensure that sailing races and regattas are well run from club level or higher.

On behalf of all of us at Point Yacht Club - thank you for what you do Noluthando.

To our outgoing Rear Commodore of Keelers, Anthony Howes - well done and thank you!

We thank you for EVERYTHING you have done for us over your two years heading up keelers and of course, the MSC Week.

What a send off - being recognised by SA Sailing for all your behind the scenes work that you have done to support our club and sport. Congratulations on receiving the Stan Jeffrey Trophy yesterday evening!

The Stan Jeffrey Trophy is the annual award to a single South African Yachtsman or Yachtswoman, who is considered to have made the most meritorious or outstanding individual contribution to the administration of the sport.

And now... you get to go sailing for the pure love of it! We look forward to seeing you and Gambit on the water.
