While we are focusing for the moment on the introduction of the new FLIGHT and GLIDE Evolution 1 and 2 single skis, it is great to see the SAsurfski surfski school in Durban doing great work teaching very young novices surf skills under guidance of their coach. Our user friendly entry level HORIZON X and TIDE evolution 4 and 5 single skis the paddlers ideal choice of ski particularly the range of leg length that very small and very tall paddlers can sit comfortably.

In Japan, competitors are training and preparing for the World Surf Lifesaving championships to be held in South Africa in 8 weeks time in early December. Pictures of a number of them with their surfski of choice made in South Africa, the DD3 SKYFALL IRON standard and low volume, the same models which they will be using in the championships in South Africa.

To say that the GLIDE Evolution 2 has entered the market is an understatement. The interest and enthusiasm for something new, and dynamic has lead to the ski gate crashing its way to the start line. Both of the GLIDE skis in the pictures are both full carbon. The contrast in taste from plain sleek looking all white to clear epoxy stabilised carbon, to further orders in red and sea blue on the production line at the moment adds to the visibility and awareness of the new ski.

BUSY EXCITING TIMES - Picture right a white carbon basalt construction GLIDE being finished off. Picture left first clear gelcoat all carbon GLIDE getting a strong 18mm outer seam which we add on all our skis to protect the ski in our strong surf and shore break, and centre the new completed mould for the FLIGHT Evolution 1 about to be moved out into the production area.

BAPTISM OF FIRE for the new Point GLIDE Evolution 2 single surfski.
The first production model lined up for race 1 in the DaReal downwind surfski series race yesterday. After the coastline was battered for three days by strong onshore winds it was clear that the surf and offshore conditions on the course was not going to be a picnic. A small but elite field that included the lines of Hank McGregor and Matthew Bouman got really battered in the gnarly surf launch at Umhloti. The surf capturing a few scalps. Offshore heavy swell and swirling wind made for very technical paddling and the surf beaching in Durban on a big swell and spring low tides resulted in a good few swimmers. Happy to say that for a 70 plus year old in an elite field, finishing 7th overall in a Top class field was testimony to the success of the new design of the GLIDE. I felt totally confident taking on the difficult surf launch. Had an amazing down wind run to Durban and was able to beach totally dry through a very gnarly beach break in Durban. Some pictures from the race. Tough tight launch through a very strong current and heavy surf break on a shallow bank. A smiling happy paddler at the finish.
