It’s almost time for our first October outing - and, whilst there’s a small possibility of very little rain, the weather forecast is actually pretty decent for our timeline.😜

Hopefully we’ll have a better turnout than last week, but, even if not, those of us who attend will undoubtedly find it well worth our while. 🏃‍♂️🏃🏿‍♀️🏃🏾‍♂️🏃‍♀️🦮👍

Good Sunday afternoon, MyGibaRunners 🙏. With a rather disappointing turnout of only 7 participants (including myself), I’ve included almost every photo taken by me and my babe Rose 🌹📸 in today’s photo album.

Unfortunately, if you missed it, today’s conditions were almost perfect for a trail event, and even our waterfall decided to provide some visual entertainment (after last night’s rain 🌧️).🥳.

Welcome back to an old member of our MyGibaRun family, Bong’musa Ngcobo.🎉 Thanks also to our stalwarts, Rika de la Rey, Lorain Struwig, Mvelo Mazibuko, Nomhle Khumalo and Christopher Bauer, who all made it worth our while and efforts to host this morning’s event. 🙏

Thanks to Chris Bauer for being such a good trail buddy this morning. I thoroughly enjoyed our hike and chat. Hope you enjoy the photos.🙏📸

Hey MyGibaRunners, for some of us it’s long weekend, and, for my babe Rose and The Ou-Ballie, it’s going to culminate with, what we hope, is going to be another wonderful outing at our favourite trail venue - Giba Gorge MTB Park - for MyGibaRun #145. 🏃‍♂️🏃🏿‍♀️🏃🏾‍♂️🏃‍♀️🦮

According to the weather forecast, we’re looking at a “window” during our event when there’s no rain expected, and then, from around 10am, there’s a small chance of some light rain. Nothing to really dampen our spirits, so, let’s hope we see another good turnout.👍

I’m planning to take a special friend on a walking tour of our route, and then a lovely brekkie with coffee at afterwards.👍 Please feel free to join us for a chat 🙏 Until Sunday. . .🏃‍♂️🏃🏿‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃🏾‍♂️🦮

Good Sunday evening, MyGibaRunners.🙏

Welcome to the rather mixed photo album from today’s MyGibaRun #144 event. I say “mixed” because, with 20 participants, (we sneaked my babe Rose (the photographer) in as she ventured out onto the trails with me and a few of the other walkers), we only had 2 runners, with the rest walking, so I’ve included numerous non-participants, cyclists and even our trail manager, Ronnie and his wife, Michelle.😇 Check out the cool wheelie so well-executed by the young cyclist 🚵‍♂️👍.

It was wonderful to see the return of Renette Van Der Merwe, Maria van Tonder, Celeste Crinall and a few of their friends again - the lure of our beautiful waterfall flowing strongly seemed to prove a strong attraction today.😜

Hey MyGibaRunners - with the rain from the past few days finally over, I couldn’t resist going out to check the waterfall in person - and it was well worth the effort. 🥳

I haven’t been able to take a decent Waterfall Selfie 📸 for quite a few months, so today was really special. And - the trails appear to have weathered the rain rather well. There’s a bit of mud around and some water - on the lower trails - but I didn’t check the higher sections, and can only imagine that the water would have run off by now as well. 😇

Started out with a toasted chicken mayo sarmie that I devoured before receiving my pre- hike Cortado, and finished a wonderful outing with a delicious large Barbeque chicken pizza and a double-shot large cappuccino at . 😋

I hope this might encourage folks to join us at MyGibaRun #144 tomorrow - PLEASE NOTE: the Start/Finish has been moved to the beginning of the concrete pathway at opposite the tuck-shop and bike shop. Abo will be sitting at one of the tables with the Roster. 👍

Good Wednesday evening, MyGibaRunners 🙏. I’m sure that most of you have seen or heard the weather forecast for Thursday and Friday by now - apparently some serious storms 🌧️ are approaching, and we should all “batten down the hatches” - and be VERY careful on the roads - preferably do not travel if possible. Be SAFE.🙏

However, the GOOD news is that the bad weather should clear on Saturday, and serve up some beautiful sunshine for us to enjoy at MyGibaRun #144 on Sunday morning.🏃‍♂️🏃🏿‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃🏾‍♂️🦮

This could also mean that, whilst our trails should still be a bit wet, our waterfall could very well be putting on a show like we haven’t seen in a while. I don’t know if you noticed, but the Giba Gorge MTB Park trail management team have cleared all of the foliage away from the approach to the waterfall, so we will have a clear view of it as we reach the right turn at the end of the loop around the dam.🥳

I hope that this will encourage loads of MyGibaRunners to join us on Sunday morning.😜👍

Hey MyGibaRunners, what a wonderful surprise to see an unexpected turnout of 18 participants for MyGibaRun #143 at Giba Gorge MTB Park this morning.🥳 THANK YOU 🙏 .

Well, that certainly gave my babe Rose and I a bit of camera work 📸 to enjoy.🎉 So, please enjoy some of the images captured today. 📸

I must mention the young man who asked Rose if she would take some photos of him cycling, with a great wheelie thrown into the mix. Fortunately Rose has a good “eye” for sports action photography, and nailed a couple of decent photos of him - we don’t know his name, but I certainly hope he gets to see them when this post is shared to the Giba page.🙏

BTW - The thumbs-down 👎 photo of Tanya Strydom was advance notice that she and hubby, Lee, would not be attending our next two events - Tanya told us she didn’t see my post about 👍 & 👎 so she’s making up for it now 😜🤣.

It was wonderful for me to be able complete the long route (included our old Spooky Houses) for the first time - Sincere thanks to all of our special MyGibaRun friends who sent and posted so many encouraging and positive good wishes to me over the past few months during the time when I needed them most - it seems that I am beginning to cope with my new meds and bionic gadget and its (sometimes) unpleasant side-effects much better now🙏 Unfortunately my poor babe Rose continues to struggle with spinal, hip and leg referral pain - she’s tough as nails, but anti-inflammatory medication is now a common requirement.😢

Thanks also to our MyGibaRun friends who joined Rose and I afterwards to enjoy some lekker grub and drinks. Crawford Reid, Lauren Badenhorst, Richard Bezuidenhout and Lorain Struwig - it was really good to spend some great quality time with you folks - we both really needed that interaction 🥰. There’s also no better way to chill-out after stretching your legs on Giba’s beautiful trails.🙏

Thanks to Abo for having the foresight to prepare our Log and for setting-up the Start/Finish with the colourful Giba Banners. These have now officially replaced the old inflatable Giba Arch - which was always a tough task to erect with usually only one or two chaps.🙏
