DAY 3: THE ELITE SPORT 10 LEGACY
A historical agreement to continue legacy of EliteSport10 was signed at the Moses Mabhida Stadium today, 26 August 2017, at the 10th International Forum on Elite Sport to cement the sport development ties between Prime Human Performance Institute (Prime HPI) in Durban and Olympic Training Centre Papendal and High Performance Centre (TCO South) in Netherlands. The agreement will see co-operation interms of mutual accommodation facilities in support of the development athletes in both countries.
Signing the agreement, Managing Director of Prime HPI, Brendon Goodenough, said, “We are very excited for what the partnership will mean in practical terms for our development athletes as they often find the cost of accommodation prohibitive when opportunities to compete internationally arise. Having Netherlands’ leading couches adding value to our coaching practise here in Durban is a great boon to our efforts.”
Equally excited was Jochem Schellems of Sportscentrum Papendal. He said this is a tremendous opportunity to extend the organisations’ knowledge and information base. “We are always looking for partnerships to achieve this. Ten years ago, when we started, we had nothing but through partnerships like these our centre now has over 550 athletes training with us on any given day. We are proud to be in a position where we too can add value to other developing athletes.”
