Here's another "More than just" principle we live by at our yard. Sadly, we see so many young riders that are capable in the saddle but can't confidently put a halter on. We don't believe in hop on-hop off, even our youngest riders get slowly introduced to these skills.
Grit & Grind” wasn’t just a theme — it was lived out, sudden cold weather would have most riders cozy at home but not these girls.
Watching our girls experience their first cross-country show jumping accumulator course, making their own decisions, finding their lines and developing partnership with their horses was something special.
Building on our previous clinic’s focus of rhythm and trust, this session reminded us that confidence doesn’t appear overnight — it’s earned through consistency, courage, and a willingness to keep learning.

A beautiful moment, capturing how Shay finds the movement of Ziniah a focusing aid. All of our therapy students love the movement of the horses to help them regulate but Shay in particular has expressed a NEED for this in order to help him task complete (normally we task motivate with movement after completion but here the movement is actually necessary at the start instead so that Shay becomes co-operative and engaged)

Confidence, calm, focus, and connection 🐴💙 — the magic of horses for humans. These are benefits we see in all our students but it gets a little extra special to see with our ASD/special needs riders.

This is why we get our classical students to start learning the art of plaiting even if they don't compete. Plaiting is so important to us, it is part of our beginner level riders progress programme. Just a simple example of why time out the saddle with the horse, can be as beneficial as time in the saddle.
Just a few snippets from our clinic today. We took a deep dive into "setting and holding a rhythm", examining it, creating it and trying to keep it, and why if at the last second your horse gives a short or long stride you should rather "go with it" then argue about it. Far easier said than done
Our kind of concert! It's not about the music, it's about engaging together. Here you can see Mia slow down and process how the words from the song connect to the colours on the xylophone. In the beginning she was banging the keys to her own rhythm but after a few seconds she allowed me to help guide her. Equine therapy can unlock magical moments.

Hi Haven Hill family, we are excited to announce our term 1 2026 schedule has been finalised and we have a few spots left to expand our human herd. Please share and help spread the happiness the horses bring.

A moment lasts for seconds, but the memories last forever! Holiday club at Haven Hill involved yard chores, a hoof pick in the haystack relay race, trail riding, pony bathing, swimming and spending time with old friends and making new ones
