Did you know that jumping feeds your inner child AND has a lot of other health benefits?
One of the major benefits of jumping is Increased Bone Density. These jumping exercises are called Plyometrics.
Plyometrics are explosive exercises that involve rapid stretching and contracting of muscles — essentially using the stretch–shortening cycle to build power, speed, and strength.
Jumping, like jump squats for example, increases your bone density through mechanical stress – basically, the force that travels through your bones when your feet hit the ground signals your body to strengthen them.
Why is increased bone density important to us?
Increased bone density means your bones have more mineral content (mainly calcium and phosphorus), making them stronger, less porous, and more resilient.
