The customer will have an idea and a picture of the knife he or she wants. You must deliver that to their satisfaction and it must be a functional product of high quality and standard of work. You are putting your name on the product so only the best will do.

I have always enjoyed working with my hands, that said. Jack Connan posted a beautiful blade he made. It was stunning and peaked my interest into making knives myself. (Now I can do woodwork and steel work combined😁)

When making a knife for a customer, you need to find out the intended use of the knife and start working from there. Quality and workmanship go a long way as well.

I bought a production hunting knife and when it came to skinning it did not perform so I thought to myself I'm sure I can make a better knife than that , I have never looked back.

𝟑. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥(𝐬) 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞:
a. Steels: I prefer working with Stainless steels. These are N690, 12C27, Lohmann LO-R 4528. 1070 is the only carbon steel that I really use.
b. Handle materials: I prefer working with natural materials such as hard woods, burls and bone. I also enjoy working with synthetics such as Micarta and G10.

I have always been interested in knives and decide to try make one and the bug bit.

The Knife must be of the highest quality, must be unique, must stand out, must be functional and must feel like an extension of the customers hand.

𝟐. 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠/𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: I've always had an interest in knives from a very young age. I bought some knife making equipment in 2014 but only really started making knives in 2017.
𝟑. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥(𝐬) 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: I use different steel, but prefer to work with N690. I also use brass, bronze and stainless steel for bolsters. Handle material depends on what the customer prefers. I prefer natural materials like wood, bone, horn and tusk's. I also work with G10 and Micarta.
