Border Bowls - South Africa

The 2026 Border Fours Finals were played this morning at EL.Com, bringing the Border Bowls season to a close.

In the men's final, Wayne Porter's Tarkastad side faced Andrew Lentz's Old Selbornian team. After a closely contested match with quality bowls throughout, Old Selbornian took control and emerged as worthy champions.

The ladies' final saw Jenna van der Linde's Old Selbornian side take on Belinda Petersen's Comrades team. Comrades held the advantage for most of the game and secured a convincing victory, with both teams producing some good bowls.

A good crowd of spectators enjoyed the action, and the prize-giving was conducted by Border Vice President Andrew Milwidsky.

Congratulations to all the finalists and winners, and thank you to everyone who contributed to another successful Border Bowls season. We now look forward to the 2027 season!

Border Fours Finals Set! 🏆

The Border Men's and Ladies' Fours semi-finals produced some excellent bowls this afternoon.

In the ladies' section, Comrades skipped by Belinda Petersen booked their place in the final with a convincing win over Lynn Newland-Nel's Kidds Beach team.

The other semi-final was a thriller, with Old Selbornian's Jenna van der Linde edging Gonubie's Faith Haydakis 24–23, the match only decided with the very last bowl.

In the men's semi-finals, Andrew Lentz's Old Selbornian side defeated clubmates skipped by Mark Hensberg, while Wayne Porter's Tarkastad team overcame Johnny Grant's Comrades side.

The Border Men's and Ladies' Trips competitions came to an exciting conclusion this afternoon, with both finals ending in convincing victories.

🥇 Men's Champions:
David Minnie, Derek Morgan & Mervyn Chetty of Old Selbornian defeated Nico Schultz, Hughie Turner & Luke Baisley of Gonubie.

🥇 Ladies' Champions:
Charmaine Comerasamy, Ingrid Jessop & Hayley Mills defeated Patricia Tiltmann, Nola Warner & Wendy Benetello of Old Selbornian.

Congratulations to our champions and well done to all the finalists for a fantastic competition. Thank you to everyone who participated and supported the event, making it another memorable day of bowls at Old Selbornian Club.

Just from my side, a huge shout out to all the U/35 bowlers playing this weekend. You approached the slightly different format with a wonderfully positive attitude. The games were played in great spirit, and the camaraderie amongst the players was truly palpable.
