With the exception of the open category ( 30-34), Prize money is awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed male and female runners in each category in both the 42.2km and 21.1km.

*CONGRATULATIONS TO PASTOR SIYABULELA MADLAVAN ON HIS 2ND PLACE IN THE 50+ CATEGORY AT THE ASA 2026 MARATHON NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS*

On behalf of the Border Athletics Executive Board and the running family, we wish to extend our warmest congratulations to the four-member provincial team for their performances at the Athletics SA (ASA) 2026 Marathon National Championships held yesterday Sunday 3 May 2026 in Durban in collaboration with the Durban International Marathon.

Siyabulela Madlavana of Nedbank RC achieved 2nd place in the 50+ male age category with a time of 2:33:08 and was also the first of the four BORA athletes complete the race.

In the 40 – 49 age category, Bulelani Mgubo achieved a commendable time 2:42:48 closely followed by Nkosinathi Nzingo at 2:44:54. Patrick Makasi was impressive in achieving 6th position in the 50 – 59 age category with a time 2:46:50.

We are so proud of their performances and extend our gratitude to the athletes, clubs & team managers.
