What is Foot & Mouth Disease (FMD)

As we prepare for the Tomato Trot & Cycle, we’d like to share some important information with our community.

Foot & Mouth Disease is a highly contagious viral disease that affects cloven-hoofed animals such as cattle, goats and game. The risk of farm-to-farm spread is very high, and it can be transmitted through direct contact, airborne spread, contaminated equipment, and infected food or water.

By staying informed and taking care, we help protect our farming community and the animals around us.

We’ve made the difficult decision to postpone the Tomato Trot due to the Foot and Mouth disease in our community. The wellbeing of our farmers and their livestock is our priority.

We’re hoping to confirm a new date later in the year, once it’s safe to do so, and will share details as soon as we can.

To all those who have already entered the Tomato Trot, we will be in communication with you via direct mail in the next week.
