Ragged-tooth sharks have a gestation period of 9-12 months following a two-year breeding cycle. We are now at the tail-end of the season and we have seen some really large females which we assume are getting ready to give birth. We encountered this female amongst 4 others on today's UVC and she looked really chunky! It is amazing to watch them transform in size during their pregnancies! By lying on the sand calmly, we were able to have a fantastic encounter and she slowly glided past us showing off her belly.
