Medal Monday π
Some athletes chase the half. Some chase the full. This weekend, three more Striders chased their own version of hard and came out the other side with medals to show for it.
Qeqeshwa Mzola took on the full 42.2km at the Border Masters Marathon, and anyone who has run that distance knows exactly what it costs. The early kilometres feel manageable. By the middle, the legs start asking questions. By the end, it is heart and stubbornness carrying you home. Qesh had all three, and it showed in that finish line photo.
Right alongside her in spirit, Babalwa Sipeliti and Amanda Nomandla lined up for the 21.1km and gave it everything they had. Running side by side, pushing each other through the tough patches, they crossed that finish line as a team even before the results were in. That is what club running is supposed to look like.
Three different women, two different distances, one unmistakable Striders energy. This is a club built on showing up, supporting each other, and never letting anyone finish alone.
Congratulations Qeqeshwa, Babalwa and Amanda. You carried the badge well this weekend, and the club is proud of every step.
Engcobo Striders, forever running forward.
