Date: 19 May 2026

The Khutjo Mmirwa Tournament (KMT) Executive Committee wishes to officially address the public, participating teams, supporters, sponsors, and all football stakeholders regarding the disciplinary matter involving Ratanang FC during the May Long Weekend Tournament semi-final fixture.

Following the unfortunate incidents that occurred during the semi-final match, the matter was referred to the KMT Disciplinary Committee for investigation and adjudication in accordance with the rules and regulations governing the tournament. The committee subsequently reviewed all available evidence, including official match reports, written submissions, and witness accounts before reaching its final decision.

The Executive Committee acknowledges and supports the findings and recommendations issued by the Disciplinary Committee.

The investigation found that Ratanang FC contravened several KMT regulations, including conduct relating to:

1. Threatening, intimidating, and harassing match officials;
2. Time wasting during match proceedings;
3. Misconduct involving supporters using vulgar and abusive language towards officials, committee members, and other participants;
4. The protest and subsequent abandonment/forfeit of the semi-final fixture.

As a result, the following sanctions were imposed:

1. Ratanang FC is required to repay the amount of ๐‘๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ taken during the tournament.
2. The club has further been sanctioned with a total disciplinary penalty amounting to ๐—ฅ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฌ.

The club has been given the following options:

1. Payment of a fine of ๐—ฅ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฌ ;
OR
2. Suspension from participation in one (1) KMT tournament.

The Executive Committee further confirms that the right to appeal applies strictly and only to the ๐—ฅ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฌ disciplinary sanction/fine and appeal does not apply to the repayment of the R1300. Any appeal must be formally submitted in writing to the KMT Executive Committee within seven (7) working days from the date of the verdict.

The Khutjo Mmirwa Tournament remains committed to promoting discipline, sportsmanship, mutual respect, and the protection of match officials, players, supporters, and tournament structures. The Executive Committee strongly condemns all forms of misconduct, intimidation, abuse, and behaviour that threatens the integrity and reputation of the tournament.

We wish to remind all participating teams and supporters that football must continue to serve as a platform for unity, respect, and community development. The KMT leadership will continue to apply tournament rules fairly, consistently, and without fear or favour in the interest of preserving the integrity of the competition.

The Executive Committee thanks all teams, sponsors, supporters, match officials, and community stakeholders for their continued support and cooperation throughout the tournament.

Firstly, the Khutjo Mmirwa Tournament (KMT) Executive Committee would like to sincerely thank all community members, supporters, teams, sponsors, and stakeholders for their valuable contribution towards the success of the May Long Weekend Tournament. Your continued support, commitment, and presence made this tournament a success.

The tournament commenced successfully on Day One, with all participating teams honouring their fixtures and playing in a disciplined and respectful manner. There were no disturbances, and the matches were played in a true spirit of sportsmanship. We appreciate all teams for their cooperation and for upholding the values of the tournament.

On Day Two, the competition continued well; however, during the semi-final match, there was an unfortunate disruption involving Ratanang FC. The team stopped the match and raised a protest regarding a penalty decision awarded to Chelsea. While teams have the right to raise concerns, such issues must be handled through proper channels without disrupting the game.

The situation was further escalated by misconduct from supporters of Ratanang FC, namely Mr. Ramasobane Peter and Seloya Simon, who attacked and insulted match officials. This behaviour is unacceptable and in violation of the KMT Rules and Regulations. In line with Rule 8, Ratanang FC has been fined R300.

In a separate incident, Eleven Experience FC player, Calvin โ€œCarlyโ€ Lekgoto, was found guilty of insulting a match official. This conduct is in violation of Rule 4.4, which prohibits threatening, intimidating, or harassing match officials. As a result, the player has been suspended for two (2) tournaments.

Regarding the matter of Ratanang FC forfeiting their match, the KMT Executive Committee is currently handling the issue through a disciplinary process. A final verdict will be communicated within seven (7) working days.

We would also like to extend our appreciation to all KMT members and organisers who worked tirelessly, day and night, to ensure the success of the tournament. Your dedication and commitment are highly appreciated.

In addition, the netball competition was successfully held over both days. On Day One, Steiloop Team emerged as champions, with Tipeng Team finishing in second position. On Day Two, Tipeng Team claimed victory, while Segole Team finished in second position. We congratulate all netball teams for their participation and sportsmanship.

Finally, we congratulate Blue Blues FC for winning the football tournament and Chelsea FC for finishing in second position. Both teams demonstrated quality football and strong competitive spirit throughout the competition.

The Khutjo Mmirwa Tournament remains committed to promoting discipline, unity, and development through sport.
