🤽 NMB talent on the international stage 🇿🇦

The SAWP Cape Town Invitational has brought together more than 400 athletes, including nine Olympians. This year’s tournament marks a first, with international club teams from Italy and Slovakia joining leading South African university and club sides. South Africa Waterpolo

NMB is represented in the SWPSA U17 squad by Sarah Whitehead, Tatum Dace, Michael Swart and Benn Jorgensen. Seko Zondani is part of the coaching team as assistant coach of the SA U17 Boys.

We’re also proud of Nerine Loock, selected as biokineticist and psychologist for the SA Women’s Team at the event.

They may not be pictured here, but we’re just as proud of Meghan Maartens and Ashley Vaughn, who were also selected for the women’s side. They’ve been playing outstanding water polo at the Cape Town Invitational.

The U17 squad was introduced at the tournament as the teams prepare for the EU Nations Cup in Brno, Czech Republic, in November. We’re proud to see our players and staff involved in this special moment for South African water polo.

🤽‍♀️🤽‍♂️ NMB 2026 CAPPING CEREMONY

We’re looking forward to celebrating the players selected to represent Nelson Mandela Bay at this year’s Inter-Provincial Tournament.

The programme includes guest speaker Duncan Woods, an address from our U19 captains and the presentation of team certificates. SuperSport will film the day’s activities, and the first fixture begins at 10:45. 🌊

📍 ECO Academy Pool, Seaview, Gqeberha

If the weather is unsuitable, the ceremony will be held at Woodridge College. Any fixture changes will be communicated.

🏆 NMB WATER POLO | 2026 IPT TEAMS 🏆

Introducing our Nelson Mandela Bay teams for the 2026 Inter-Provincial Tournament in Cape Town from 5 to 9 December.

We’ll have 10 teams representing NMB this year, with boys and girls competing from U13 to U19.

Congratulations to every player selected. A lot of work has gone into earning your place, and we hope you’re proud to see your name on the team list. Wearing the NMB cap is a privilege, and we look forward to seeing you represent our region.

Thank you to our coaches and managers for the time you put into these teams, and to the parents and schools who help make it possible for our players to take part.

To the players who weren’t selected this year, we know how much this means to you and how disappointing it is to miss out. We see the effort in your training data and the work you put in at the pool. Your attitude outside the water matters too. Keep pushing in all these areas, even when the results don’t come as quickly as you’d hoped. The work you’ve put in still counts, and there’s more to build on. We want to see you back at trials next year.

There’s plenty to do before December. We’re looking forward to getting the teams together and preparing for Cape Town!

Vamos NMB! 🇪🇸Wishing Sarah Whitehead, Benn Jorgensen and Ryan Venter all the best as they compete in Spain with Elevate Water Polo | High Performance Polo .

The three NMB players are currently in Barcelona and will be playing in the Next Generation Cup tournament in Sabadell.

We are proud to see our players earning opportunities like this and representing themselves, their schools and NMB on an international stage. We wish them a successful and enjoyable tournament. 🐘 Vamos!
