LITTLE LEGS. BIGGER DREAMS. A BIGGER VISION.
For WPA Track & Field chairperson Emil van Wyk, Little Athletics is about much more than medals.
It is about keeping young athletes in the sport, growing Province’s talent pool and building a pathway from the school track to provincial and national colours.
With 346 young athletes expected at Wesfleur Track in Atlantis on Saturday, the next generation gets another chance to race, jump, throw, learn and dream.
Van Wyk’s message is clear: the talent is out there. Now the sport needs to create more opportunities for it to flourish.
From Little Athletics to provincial colours, every great journey needs a starting line.

LITLLE ATHLETICS EXCITEMENT IN ATLANTIS
The next generation of Western Cape athletes will take centre stage in Atlantis on Saturday when Velocity Athletics Club hosts the Western Province Athletics Little Athletics meeting at Wesfleur.
The meeting, scheduled for 19 September, is expected to attract 282 young athletes, with competition running from 08:00 to 12:55.

GUN RUN GUNPOWDER!
Adam Lipschitz came to Cape Town talking course record. He left with it. The Social Runners Club KZN star stormed to 1:02:21 at the OUTsurance Gun Run Half Marathon, smashing Hollywood Athletics Club Joseph Seutloali’s previous mark. And the purple machine kept rolling.
Irvette van Zyl returned after seven years away and powered to the women’s title in 1:14:03, completing a huge Hollywood Athletics Club weekend that also saw Stephen Mokoka win the 10km in 29:36. The clock got smoked. The purple shirts did the rest.
