The Canola Roller Welcome to the official page of The Canola Roller. The gravel race of Greyton. The 130km route includes access to private farm roads high up on the hills.

The next premium cycle event will be held on the 19th of September 2026 - in support of the Greyton MTB / gravel club and the Greyton Juniors MTB club. . 130 ,80 ,50,30km races The Greyton MTB and Gravel Club is excited to announce that Pie Run, now in its eighth year, is getting a significant makeover and will be rebranded as The Canola Roller. Last year, we had 350 riders, and this year we’re aiming for at least 400 participants. The traditional 76km Pie Run route will be upgraded to a more exciting 80km route with just under 1000 m of climbing, while the existing family-friendly 30km route will remain unchanged. Both routes are non-technical and pass through breathtaking rural landscapes with stunning views of the Riviersonderend mountains. Additionally, we’re adding a new, more challenging 130 km route with 1700m of climbing. This route is one of only five events in the Cannondale Western Cape Gravel Series, offering something for those looking for a greater challenge. Expect a thrilling ride featuring fast hardpack rolling hills, demanding technical climbs, and exhilarating downhill sections. The 30km and 80km routes are entirely on gravel roads, while 95% of the 130km route is on gravel. Entry fees raised goes towards the Greyton MTB Juniors Club and the maintenance and upgrading of our Mountain Bike trail network. Greyton Juniors is a group of 40+ children from the community that meet twice a week to receive training, mentorship, and support. Enter on Entry Ninja today and get ready for an unforgettable ride.

IMPORTANT RESULTS UPDATE

Rider finishing positions are correct. However, during a portion of the race, some timing timestamps did not synchronise correctly, which may have affected individual recorded times.

Great-Time is currently working through the timing data to reconcile and correct the affected timestamps.

If your recorded time appears incorrect, please send Great-Time your GPS, Garmin or Strava activity details to assist with verification.

In memory of Steve Jossel

Steve was one of those people who left a lasting mark on Greyton and on the people around him.

He loved his family, cycling and his chickens — and many of us will also remember him from Hub & Spoke, the little coffee shop that became such a familiar part of our time in Greyton.

Steve had a way of making you smile, and his favourite question was always:

“You riding or hiding?”

We will remember the rides, the conversations, the coffee and the character that made Steve, Steve.
