This is a lifter to watch.
I have had the honour and pleasure of coaching Daniel since he 13yrs old.
He has spent the last 4 years working harder than anyone I know. He is disciplined in his nutrition and even more so in his training.
This morning was his first ever attempt at 200kg and... well, the reel speaks for itself. An easy, solid lift and there is so much more to come.
I am so proud of you, Dan and just a little bit jealous that you got to 200kg before I did 😋.
Africa Champs is going to be epic for you🏆.

I work with close to 65 lifters in person, and 20 lifters online, on a daily basis. I watch lift after lift after lift. Working with so many varied lifters at different stages of their lifting journeys gives me valuable insight into what actually works, what doesn't, and why.
As a lifter myself, I know personally what it feels like to get it right and I know how my lifters feel when they miss a lift. What is hard for some lifters to understand is that a missed lift is not a failed lift. There is more to be gained from a tough session than there is from a successful session. If things always go right we dont know where our weaknesses lie and how to correct them.
This afternoon I had planned on squatting 200kg, it would have been an all time personal best for me by 5kg. When you are lifting three times your body weight, the tiniest imbalance or misgroove is going to cost you the lift. My last warm up, 185kg, should have been an easy lift - the reel is proof that it wasnt. I didn't attempt the 200kg. My unracks have been unstable, my foot position has not been consistent. My sleep has been horrific which has been negatively affecting my recovery.
The solution was not to have a temper tantrum or break down in tears. The missed lifts are information, valuable data that I can use to improve my lifts to get better and stronger.
And therein lies the beauty of lifting... we can always get better and stronger. There is no expiry date, this is an incredible never-ending story.
It is hard to coach oneself. I video all my lifts but I only get to see my body move from one view point. Having eyes on the ground, in real time is invaluable. Thank you, Colton Engelbrecht for being my sounding board and my constant support. Your advice is priceless.
The 200kg is coming, its just a matter of time.

A mix of bench, deadlifts and leg accessories.
Slowly progressing in bench. Need to focus on back tightness as the bar descends onto my chest.
Africa Champs is less than 4 weeks away💪🏼.
I failed my first attempt at 200kg today. Failed lifts happen, the important thing is to understand why it wouldn't go up.
Dropped to 195kg and it flew up.
Tried 200kg again and it was a good lift.
4 weeks until I test myself on the African Champs platform.
Thank you, Daniel and Jordyn for your cheers.
Heavy singles for our Africa Champs and Iron Gladiators competitors today.
190kg for two singles. It was a good session.
Every time I train I learn something new about myself, about the lift, about strength training. Honing my skills and becoming better than I was before, is such a rewarding journey and it makes me a better coach.
4 weeks out from Africa Champs.
