Dust Trails Africa We use lightweight dual-sport bikes to take us along the roads less travelled.

We are a small, family run business, offering unique self sustained, tailor made motorcycle adventure tours into the more remote regions of South Africa and Lesotho.

Remote tracks, high mountain passes, river crossings and riding that will test you. Huge views. Vast empty landscapes. And small mountain villages where life still moves at a very different pace.

This is also a journey into a world that feels like stepping back in time. Horses and donkeys on the trails. Shepherds in the mountains. Small villages far from the normal tourist routes.

We ride light Honda CRF300Ls, travel in a small group and carry what we need with us.

It’s a bit tougher than our other trips – but that is exactly the point.

Finding our way. 🏍️

Riding through some of the most remote mountains in South Africa and Lesotho, you soon learn that a line on a map only tells part of the story.

Which track leads over the ridge? Has the rain washed away the crossing? Up here, there is nobody to ask. We have to read the landscape and find our way together.

That is part of what we love about these rides. Small groups, everything we need on our bikes, and mountains that make you stop just to take it all in.

Winter is hard on these mountains. Tracks change, river crossings shift and a route that was passable last season may look very different after the winter.

That is why we test-ride and quality-check our routes before every new season.

We know these mountains and tracks exceptionally well. That local knowledge allows us to take our riders deep into remote country—while knowing that the route ahead is passable.

Real adventure still requires careful preparation.

Our first Dust Trails Africa Tribe meet!

All of us who have ridden with DTA have something in common: an adventurous spirit, curiosity about the world and a love of exploring it by motorcycle.

Twelve people joined us in person. Madeleine called in from Holland, Jan Helge from Slovakia, and of course Charlie joined online to chat with everyone. Some travelled over the internet. Others arrived on bikes.

The longest journey was Edgar’s. He rode 650 kilometres on his KTM to join us – apparently he had heard the pizza was good. Today he rides all the way home again. Thank you, Edgar!

And the pizza really was very good. A big thank you to Hans Kristian and .KOST for feeding us, and to Motor for letting us use the shop.

A great first gathering. If you have ridden with DTA, you are already part of the Tribe. If not, come and ride with us!
