Unfortunately, Jbay Dolphins did not qualify for the knockout stage of the Summerslam competition.

We now look forward to the upcoming winter league beginning later this month, as we aim for some good cricket from the guys!

Corporate League Summerslam Match Update:

The team travelled to Heatherbank Corp Cricket League in PE for their last fixture in the Summer Slam.

Jbay lost the toss and were put in to field on a pitch which proved to play much differently than it looked.
YCA were scoring at less than 5 an over at the half way stage before picking the pace up.

YCA eventually ended up on 115 for 4 after their 20 overs.
The Dolphins were ruthless in their reply, achieving the required runs in the 13th over and securing victory by 7 wickets.

The top performers with the bat were:
- Juan van Rooyen in his first outing for the team with a ruthless 34 off 16 balls including a massive six over long on causing play to be delayed by 10 minutes while the ball was being found!
- Leon Leeu Bothma with a composed and aggressive 33 off 14 balls
- Zane Woodland with 9 off 4 balls to seal the victory

With the ball the top performers were:
- Joahn Candrick Cairncross with a very economical 1 wicket for 8 runs off his two overs
- Henk Kotze with 1 wicket for 20 runs off his two overs

The win means that the Dolphins sit on two wins at the end of the group stage and we now await the final standings to determine if we qualify for the quarter finals.

Jbay batted first on a sticky wicket, and posted a competitive 151 for 7 in their 20 overs.
The Owls reached the target in the 17th over and won by 4 wickets, but not without a scare when Jbay took some quick wickets early.

The top performers with the bat were:
Danie Van Wyk with a captain's innings of 33 not out from 23 balls
Arutha Edwards with 30 not out off 25 balls
Lux Twazi contributed a handy 21 off 23 balls

With the ball the top performers were:
Zane Woodland with 2 wickets for 8 runs in 1.5 overs

We say goodbye for now!
Our chairman and captain Ruan Thomas is taking a break.
Family, business and an unfortunate injury will see him leave us for a few months.
We wish him all the best and will see him again back in his whites shortly!
Thank you and good luck Chairman!

Today we played the 4th division final of the Heatherbank Corp Cricket League against the Mopani worms, and the star of the day was none other that 12 year old Jordan...

Playing against grown ups, he scored a brilliant 15 runs off 18 balls, and bowled 2 overs, taking 1 wicket for 16 runs...

Unfortunately we lost by just 1 wicket, but we had great fun!

Our batter of the day was Leon Leeu Bothma with an incredible innings getting 51 runs off 34 balls.
Our bowler of the day was Ruan Thomas, bowling 2 overs, taking 2 wickets for 15 runs.
Our fielder of the day was Sean Caddick, saving boundries and putting his body on the line.

An amazing day of cricket, playing the game we love.

Thank you Mopani Worms for the amazing sportsmanship, you guys deserve the 4th Division trophy!

Today we had loads of fun playing against a new team in the 4th division of the Heatherbank Corp Cricket League. They call themselves the Bomb Squad, unfortunately their bombs didn't work out well for them and we won the game with 35 runs.

The guys put in a real effort.
Our captain of the day, Siseko Miggels opted for us to bat first.
We scored a good 177/4 in our 20 overs.
We then went in to defend our score and bowled them all out for 142 runs in 19.4 overs. (2 balls left)

A well deserved victory for our boys today!

Man of the match went to JD Cripps for his quick fire 27 runs off 15 balls, taking 2 great wickets for 11 runs in his 2 overs bowled and amazing work in the field taking catches and saving boundaries.

Our best batters were:
Siseko Miggels - 35* (14)
Ruan Thomas - 30* (25)
Cobus DeWet - 29 (25)

Our best bowlers were:
Renier Steenkamp - 2/5 (2)
Danie Van Wyk - 2/8 (2)
JD Cripps - 2/11 (2)
