Have you ever thought about walking 650km? I haven't, but Chris has and he's doing it at 88 years old 🤯 It's
Keep an eye out for an April start. If you'd like to assist with the walk, with Tharros Child and Youth Care Centre or donate time or fund, please do get in touch 🥰
Dear Friends,
I mentioned a while ago that my dad plans to walk between Somerset West, his hometown, to Tharros in Hankey, a distance of 650 km. I also mentioned that he is 88 years old!
Plans are near fruition, with a few minor changes to the method of achieving this. The majority of kilometres will be reached by him walking daily around Somerset West, Stellenbosch and surrounding areas. He will then culminate this epic adventure walking the last few days near Hankey to reach Tharros's doorstep on his final day.
We have coined this adventure "Chris's walk for Courage",(Tharros meaning Courage in Greek). The first 16 days of the walk will be dedicated to the individual 16 children who were in our care on the day of the fire.
The enormity of what dad is setting out to do is amazing, and I urge you to please follow us on his journey. He plans to start in April - information and links on how to support him will be posted soon, so keep a lookout!
Take care
Taise
