Noorse Kloof Nature Reserve in the heart of Jeffreys Bay and Kabeljouws Nature Reserve on outskirts of town. Covers 28 hectare.

The Noorsekloof Nature Reserve was declared a conservation reserve in 1984. It has a 3km trail running alongside a stream from which you can see near 50 species of bird and some small buck. The reserve gained its name from the abundance of Noorsboom ( trees) or giant Euphorbia Triangularus in the area.

The Noorse Kloof Trail is being cleaned and cut open to its former glory, currently the trail is open from the top to the bottom but a lot of work is stil being done to widen the trail and to repair all the bridges over the river. Volunteers are welcome to come give a hand even if its just identifying trees, collecting half logs from the bridges washed down the river bed, clearing brush and alien plants.

Just a follow up from our Monday post ๐Ÿ˜Š
Here is another ๐Ÿ“ธ of a parrot-beaked tortoise, this snap was taken a little while back in Kablejous nature reserve just outside of jeffreys bay. What an epic place to go hike about for a morning โ˜บ
Did you know that these little guys ( all tortoises ๐Ÿข) are infact a protected species in South Africa๐Ÿค“
They are listed under CITIES 1 or 2 categories as well as other forms of provincial legislation.

The Noorsekloof Hiking Trail has been cleaned up and cleared of fallen bushes, again making it possible to hike between Dogwood Entrance/Exit and Leadwood Entrance/Exit at farm gate.

Its roughly 2 km one way of fairly even hiking with a couple of tricky spots over rougher terrain but no need for crawling under bushes anymore, enjoy the kloof and help preserve it.
Great hike for families to enjoy, please just respect the wildlife and residents staying around the trail.
