Great session working on the basics with Mardo over the holidays to keep him sharp.
Some of the breakdown drills from yesterdays 1 on 1 session. Big focus is getting the boys to use their correct shoulder to avoid injuries! The young ones tend to use their dominant shoulder for everything. Need to get this out of them from a young age! Rugby is not perfect and sometimes we just need to get the threat out of the way. But practicing the correct technique is imporatnt regarding player’s safety. Keep the drills basic! It does not always have to look fancy!!
Thank you for inviting us we learned a lot from everyone that was part of the day!
A few clips from the scrum session with Laerskool Garsfontein U/11 towards. Not everything was perfect but go plenty out of the session.
What we’ve noticed over the past few years 👇🏼
-Most young boys lack the ability to hold a strong scrum shape for a long periods of time, due to lack of core, neck, back and glute strength this is dangerous and can also cause serious injury when thrown into a scrum.
-Most boys try and dominate on their own which causes bad body shape and creates bad habits tha can take years to get rid off.
-Working with your ho**er and prop to as a unit and not to try things individually.
Reason for the session
-Trying to create good habits and get rid of bad ones as soon and as young as possible.
-Working on holding the scrum shape for extended periods of time.
-Using resistance bands to force props to fight forwards and stay down
-Working on entire pack to work together
-Focuisng on front row angles and staying patient.
-SAFTEY, SAFETY, SAFETY

Lets make it great! Let’s do it different and do it the right. Too many people go against what we believe and go with the stream! We believe in building young men, to become the providers and protectors! We might lose business, but so be it. We live in a world that no one can stand up for what right and what we stand for! We don’t care about the cancel culture! Lets make Eight7 Great
Working on mini units and timing, a lot of small fixes as individuals needed but what a great week in Namibia. Final scrum session for the week! Loved every minute with these young men.
