In honour of the PGA champs taking place in Philadelphia we had a Hoagie Cook off with CEO Paul Leushman, Club Pro Greg Jacobs and Golf Director Jayde Rademeyer.
Member’s got to taste all 3 delicious Hoagies and vote for their favourite. New kid on the block Jayde won in a closely contested contest … with a little help from a friend. Great fun on a beautiful autumn day !
The Philly hoagie originated in the early 20th century among Italian immigrant communities in Philadelphia, who created hearty sandwiches using cured meats, cheese, and long Italian rolls—recipes rooted in their culinary traditions. The name comes from the Hog Island shipyard during World War I, where workers brought large “Hog Island sandwiches” for lunch. Over time, the name evolved into “hoagie.”Today, the hoagie is a Philadelphia culinary icon, officially recognized as the city’s signature sandwich and a lasting symbol of its immigrant heritage and food culture.
