I have been struggling with an injury for about 6 months. After seeing a chiro and finding out the injury was misdiagnosed, I quickly changed my rehab focus. After 2 weeks, I felt a difference.
I am so happy to be able to move again. It's still not 100%, but with the right strength and rehab, I know it will be.
Today was my first outdoor run in almost a year! I enjoyed it so much. ๐ฅน๐โโ๏ธ๐ฅณ

Throwback to my second road race in the streets of Elblฤ
g, Poland.
Currently working through a minor MCL strain ๐ฆต
Itโs been about 5 weeks since I last ran, and as much as Iโm missing it, Iโm using this time to focus on upper body strength and proper rehab.
Truth is, being patient isnโt easy. Iโve felt frustrated, restless, even a little lost at times without my usual training routine. Movement is such a big part of who I am... physically, mentally, and emotionally.
But this is also a reminder I keep coming back to:
๐ฌ Healing is progress too.
As a Biokineticist, I always encourage others to listen to their bodies, honour the healing process, and take rest seriously. Now itโs my turn to practice what I preach: to slow down, tune in, and trust the process.
Injury is never just physical. It challenges your mindset, too. But I'm learning (again) that strength isnโt just about what your body can do, itโs about how you show up when things arenโt going to plan.
To anyone else recovering right now: you're not alone. Progress looks different every season, and this one is about rebuilding. ๐ชโจ

๐จ SPECIALIST SPOTLIGHT ๐จ
We are excited to welcome Rachel Leistra AKA to the Forte Specialists team.
Rachel offers services as a Personal Trainer, Biokineticist and Wellness Coach.
Learn more about Rachel hereโฆ
โI am a qualified Biokineticist, with a four-year degree in Biokinetics from the University of Johannesburg and Iโm working towards obtaining my Masterโs in Biokinetics from UJ. I have an HFPA (Health and Fitness Professionals Academy) certificate in sports massage.
Middle and long-distance running has always been one of my passions and running competitively is something I love to do.
These competitive sporting experiences, along with various related injuries, have given me an in-depth knowledge of my bodyโs limits and capabilities, and this is something I draw on to better assist in helping my clients heal.
I love interacting with people of all ages, from seniors to young adults and children. I believe that understanding your body and what works for you is the first step to preventing injuries. We are all unique and thatโs why I prefer to work on a case-by-case basis to understand each person on an individual level, whether they are an athlete or not, and work out the best methods for helping my clients get stronger, fitter or just healthier overall.โ

Pre and post Sports Massage for the Ride Joburg 947 event! โ๏ธ๐๐ดโโ๏ธ๐ดโโ๏ธ
Pre event sports massage can help ease acute pains, increase overall blood circulation, loosen muscles improve range of movement, and allow waste products from training to be flush out of the muscles leaving muscles feeling fresh for the race.
Post event sports massage assists with recovery, reduce competition stiffness or pain, increase new blood flow to the area and improve range of movement, pretty much the same although your body may be a bit stiffer after the race โบ๐๐
