Echoes of Growth Life isn't always neat or inspiring. Sometimes it's beautiful. Sometimes frustrating. Sometimes it's hilarious.

This is a place for thoughtful reflections, honest conversations, and the small shifts in perspective that often make the biggest difference.

It's been a wile, right? Alweer … maar wat kan ek sê? Soms het mens net 'n extended time out van sekere dinge nodig.

Soos wat ek my 50's nader dink ek baie oor tyd. Ja of nee. Ja of nee.

Blessings mooie mense

Advanced Coaching – Part 2, Day 2…

There’s something about being in a space like this that reminds you how much depth there is to people… and how often it goes unseen.

It’s not about having all the answers. It’s about asking the right questions… and being willing to sit in the uncomfortable moments where real change happens.

One conversation at a time, you start to see shifts.
In perspective. In awareness. In the way someone sees themselves. And that’s where it matters.
Not in big, loud breakthroughs… but in the quiet moments where something finally clicks.

Blessed to be growing through this process myself, while helping others do the same.

This wasn’t something that happened overnight… over years, I found myself wrestling with things I never expected to question.

For most of my life I believed that doubt was something you were supposed to keep quiet. That questioning meant something was wrong with your faith. That anger, confusion, or frustration with what you see around you in religion was something you should quickly push aside...

But life has a way of forcing you to look at things more honestly...

There were seasons where I questioned almost everything I had been taught ... weeks and months of silence... Moments of anger... Times where I pulled apart ideas I had accepted for years without ever examining them for myself...

Not because I wanted to destroy anything... but because something inside me needed to know what was real.

And somewhere in that process I realised something important: questioning isn’t the enemy of faith ... sometimes it’s the beginning of a deeper understanding...

When you strip away performance, tradition, cultural expectations, and the ways we as humans sometimes reshape our idea of God through our own fears, pride, or upbringing, you end up standing in a much quieter place...

A place where belief is no longer something you simply inherited...

It becomes something you’ve wrestled with ... thought about ... and slowly rebuilt from the ground up...

That process changes how you see the world ... It changes how you see people. It changes how you think about love ... power ...humility ...and the ways belief can sometimes be used to elevate some while quietly silencing others...

I wouldn’t have chosen the experiences that forced me into that kind of reflection... but I am grateful for what the process itself has given me: the freedom to ask honest questions ... the courage to think deeply ... and a faith that no longer depends on someone else’s understanding of God...

Because sometimes the most sincere faith is not the one that never questions... it's the one that has wrestled with the questions… and stayed.

Blessings beautiful people.

Let's talk about the ego. Not the loud, obvious version people like to point out in others ... the quieter one that grows almost unnoticed when attention becomes a kind of currency.

The ego has a strange way of feeding on admiration ... on being noticed ... on being desired... on the subtle sense of importance that comes when people look your way a little longer than they should...

And the difficult thing about the ego is that it is rarely satisfied for long - the more it is fed, the more it wants.

Scattered through scripture and even old texts are quiet cautions about pride ... about the danger of the human heart when it begins to delight to much in its own reflection...

“Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall... "

The human heart can easily become intoxicated with its own importance if it isn’t watched carefully... because admiration feels good... being wanted feels good... being noticed feels good.

But those things were never meant to become the centre of a person’s character. In fact, real character is usually far quieter... It’s the ability to walk past attention without needing to gather it... to value depth more than admiration... to recognise that integrity is often built in the moments where no one is watching and no one is applauding...

And maybe that’s the real test that life quietly brings our way. Not whether we can attract attention... oh no, that part is easy... But it's whether we can live in a way that doesn’t need it...

Blessings beautiful people.

Looking back over the past few years, there is one thing I understand now that I didn’t understand then: when you are inside a situation where someone’s words and their behaviour don’t match... your mind works very hard to protect the picture you once believed in... Not because you are naïve. Not because you are weak. But because trusting someone ... especially someone who speaks confidently about faith, values, and what is “right” ... creates a kind of framework in your mind. You build meaning around it ... you build safety around it ...

And when the cracks start showing, the first instinct is often not to question the framework... It’s to question yourself... You revisit conversations in your mind... You try to see where you misunderstood.... you look for ways you could have handled things better, been more patient, been more understanding...

You do this because the alternative is far more unsettling... accepting that someone can speak convincingly about goodness while living very differently behind the scenes...

What I’ve realised with time is that confusion in those moments is not a sign that something is wrong with YOU... It’s often a sign that your inner compass is actually working — but your mind is trying to protect a belief that once felt important to you...

And when you eventually step back from it, sometimes months or even years later ... the strange thing is how quiet the clarity is... There isn’t always a dramatic moment where everything suddenly makes sense... it'’s more like slowly noticing that you no longer feel the need to explain things away… or defend behaviour that once left you unsettled...

You just see things for what they were... and strangely, that clarity doesn’t leave you bitter. If anything, it leaves you more protective of truth, more appreciative of genuine people, and more aware of how valuable quiet integrity really is...

In the end, you realise that some lessons only make sense when you look at them from the other side...

15/02/2026

They say that when you truly love someone…
you will protect them…
not just from the world…
but even from yourself…

You’ll guard their heart the way you guard your own breath…
You’ll fight for them… stand for them… choose them…
especially when it’s not convenient…

They say true love is a bond…
a knowing…
a depth that doesn’t need noise to prove it exists…
A quiet certainty that says… this is my person… and I am theirs…

They also say love is blind…
That we ignore the red flags…
because hope feels holier than truth…
Because we want to believe that the love we give so freely…
is being given back just as fiercely…
Truly. Madly… deeply...

But here’s what I’ve learned:

To many… love is language… not action…
It’s pretty words wrapped around ego…
It’s attention… validation…
It’s filling the hollow “I am” with “me… myself… and I…”

It’s a performance…
A placeholder…
A waiting room…
while they scan the horizon for something “better”…
Younger…
Prettier…
More impressive…
Something that polishes their image… instead of protecting a heart…

And that realisation wasn’t the end…
it was the moment I opened my eyes…
and chose truth over illusion…

I don’t love like that.
When I love… I don’t skim the surface…
I don’t flirt with possibility…
I connect in a way that melts my soul into another…
I feel shifts before they are spoken…
I know when something is right…
and I know when something is wrong…
I sense the fracture before the crack is visible…

For a long time… I thought that was a curse…
To carry an inner knowing… and to feel what others tried to hide…

But it isn’t a curse.

Love is not butterflies…
It’s not “I miss you…”
It’s not “You look beautiful…”
It’s not “I can’t wait to see you…”

Love… real love is responsibility…

It is choosing the same person on the days when their light is dim…
It is protecting their name in rooms they are not in…
It is loyalty when temptation is easy…
It is honesty when lying would be convenient…
It is staying when ego wants to run…
It is seeing someone’s flaws… and saying…
“I am not here to replace you… I am here to build with you…”

Love is not blind…
Love sees…
and chooses anyway…

Love is a tree…

Not the kind that grows overnight…
Not the kind you uproot when the view changes…
A tree…
It begins small… fragile…
It needs tending… watering… protection from storms…
Its roots grow slowly… deeply… unseen…
And when the winds come…
it doesn’t run…
it bends…
it holds…
it stands…
because what is beneath the surface…
is stronger than what shakes above it…

Some people love like leaves…
Seasonal… beautiful… temporary…

I love like roots…
Quiet… committed…
Unseen… but unshakeable…

I used to think loving this way made me naive…
Too deep… too intense… for a world that loves temporarily…
But now I understand…
the depth is not my weakness…
It is my gift…

I carry a love that is steady… protective… fierce…
The kind that doesn’t shop around when storms hit…
The kind that does not wait for better weather…
The kind that builds… ring by ring… year by year…
knowing forever is not a feeling…
but a decision made daily…

And I am grateful…

Grateful that my heart did not harden…
Grateful that betrayal did not teach me to love shallow…
Grateful that I still believe in something sacred…
in a world that markets everything…

Because when the once-in-a-lifetime love truly comes…
not the illusion…
not the ego-stroking fantasy…
but the real thing…

I will not hold back…

I will love fully…
Softly… and fiercely at the same time…
With wisdom…
With strength…
With open eyes…

And he will not only be loved…

He will be rooted…
in something rare…

Chosen…
Protected…
Honored…

Truly…
